you have to realise that samsung wont update ur phone because of warranty issues and also the fact that yeah ics may run on sgs1 but it will soon have it speed problems and start to make the handset show it true problems..... just stop moaning like little girls and get a sgs3 upgrade in Q1/2. I think galaxy nexus still the best even with low hardware that not even come close to gs2 and galaxy note, but at end of the day its Google phone so Google treat the phone like Apple treating iphone . That's why galaxy nexus still the best Android device till date.

Alright, i've upgraded from 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 is almost identical in speed, if anything a little slower for 3D on the I9000... having said that...
Facedetection does not work properly, the option and circle are there, you press the button it takes 2 little green arrows and asks you to try again even in full light...
when taking a video, yes there's an icon top right, you press it, the sound goes off, you look at the photos and it's black with a little camera image for the picture...
2 features not working..
3rd feature, when you add tethering, it says error yet says success at the top, it's confusing, did it work? did it not?.... uh nuh?..
Love the new unlock screen, although very easy to accidentally unluck the phone, takes more of a curved swipe which would be easy to do.... but, the new charging percentage is handy and it looks like the same one on the galaxy 2 :)
other than that, no noticable differences between stock 2.3.5 and 2.3.6
Looks like too much effort to finish it hence the leak :) oh well i've not lost anything only gained including a photo editor so thanks :)..
P.S rooting it using the same tool for 2.2.5 works perfectly and supports overclocking to 1.3gig on the i9000, i'm running on a 1.2gig/oc right now, working flawlessly, the browser's smooth now and no longer jerks to a stop...

As a Samsung customer, I will not buy any other Samsung product if it fails to provide the 1 year promised service (As we all know, Samsung was still selling SGS1 as their flagship 12 month ago). Moreover, we know that SGS is technically compatible with ICS.
Bottom-line: I will only buy SGS3 if my SGS gets decent service.

That really sucks...so Samsungs's former flagship will go the way of the dinosaur :-(. Is the same going to apply for the S Plus and XL?? I don't want a SGSII and Nexus as they are too damn big..4" is just the right size. Well I'll wait another 3-6 months and decide what to do then.

Samsung promotes over-consumerism, making you feel your brand new phone is old just a few months after buying it. Shoddy update support, poor quality build. This is the last time I. buy Samsung. Prefer Sony Ericsson's pace, and will go back to them for my next phone.

Need some help here, not a geek, my I9000 is still on GB2.3.3 and everytime I check for updates, it says no update available via Kies. I got this used from ebay and it is on Optus network. How do I get the update to 2.3.6 so that I can get this new feature. Thanks in advance.

Now its 6-12 months later and even S2 is old.
Where I am in Jakarta even Galaxy Note are second hand as people move on.
Yes, I have a Note with a great screen, camera, video but little else in terms of benefit.
Are we really going backwards? Where is the next real technology leap. All these new Samsungs are boring.

i used to own an i9000 before but my home button got damaged and sold it off
the samsung galaxy s is an 2010 phone and their warranty only last 1 year and now its 2012 and nearly all i9000 user will have expired warranty by now and i think samsung not bothered to fully update their former flagship phone which was the true iphone killer that took on the iphone4 last year.
if you still want ICS for your i9000. this is where rooting comes in and you all i9000 user your not alone there xda people working hard to get ics rom for the i9000 and you should thank them for getting the ics to sgs1
i bet the galaxy s2 is next?

After a couple of heartattacks of nearly bricking my phone i finally sorted it and im very impressed with it, a very nice change, love the new lock screen although i dont know how to use my ugly chops to open the lock screen :-) photo editor is cool and the pic taking while video is awsome

Samsung downfall will be geeks. After screwing people with fraudulent product support, hardware specs will not be enough to convince people as people will treat them as stolen goods.
For myself, after Galaxy S I will stay clear of Samsung and have been advising people to stay clear of Android mess.
