Never had a single problem with the graphics performance on the SG2. Is your copy dodgy?

I have the original version of Asphalt 6 from gamelofts page itself and also the one in Samsung apps and it runs perfectly. I had a SGS and now the S2 and its a huge difference. I know the 4S has a better GPU but in overall speed the S2 its faster that's what I was refering to. And as in regards to Mali being weak, its not really true because its the second best GPU behing the 4S, while leaving the S1 GPU behind along with Tegra 2.

Maybe sooner than that - PowerVR series 6 should already be sampling with lead partners e.g.the ST Ericsson NovaThor A9600. Quoting ST-E:

ok let's clear this up, take Asphalt 6 as an example, the 'official' bought store version will not run on a galaxy 2... the unofficial one you can get from torrent sites does run on the galaxy 2.
now if you play it on galaxy 2, you'll find purple tracer lines or purple triangles in where certain objects that the GPU simply can't render should be...
What makes it even stranger is, that if you look at the 3D benchmarks between a galaxy 1 and 2, you'll see only a 15 - 20% improvement, and if you OC a galaxy 1 to 1.3ghz, it's as little as 5% faster GPU...
So i belive the Mali GPU is weak, and I'm expecting intel's new processor to blow the Mali out of the water, I exepct samsungs next flagship to carry either a new evolved architecture from the GS1 specifically the GPU, or go with the new PowerVR GPU, either way i'd be happy... but quite frankly the SG2's GPU is really not that good, the CPU on the other hand kills the SG1 from floating point to integer routines.... but honestly the GPU is average.
Need further proof, if you have a galaxy 1 or 2, look for a game called the Fast 5, it's in the torrents, you can't even get that game off of the market i've tried so they can't be too upset for getting it via an alternative means...
1 small hack to get the official version working on an SG2 as i found out, download the pirated version which has been hacked and works on the SG2, then go to the store and buy it, let it download the installer files...
once installed, it will then try and run but it will failt, it will then offer you a refund.. hit the refund button and the program uninstalls...
now, go back to the menu, you'll see the old version, run it, you'll now get the new upgraded features and the latest menu complete with online account and game, and it runs fine excpet for the few odd API calls that the Mali GPU can't render and will appear as pink outlines or stripes..
Fast 5 is a perfect example (all you get is pureply polygons on the SG2, even though the same API's run almost perfectly on the SG2)

BTW Asphalt 6 looks the best on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 because Gameloft optimized it for A5 SoC with the best graphics chip in smartphones, the PowerVR SGX543MP2. PowerVR SGX543MP2 in iPhone 4S/iPad 2 is twice faster than the MALI 400-MP in Galaxy S2.

It's funny that people think Galaxy S2 is smoother than iPhone 4S, because it's not. Once you start installing apps on Galaxy S2 it will have stutter sometimes but not as much as other Android phones I had.

AnonD-1306, 12 Jan 2012I have a SGS2 and Asphalt 6 runs perfectly fine without even overclocking the GPU.Asphalt 6 runs great on my N8 but it stutters and force closes on my friend's SGS 2. The SGS 2 only looks good in paper with those high end specs but it sucks in practice. It lags even with a dual core and a lot of apps force closes randomly. It's not reliable and the OS is malware and virus ridden.
