But I think it would be more correct to say that "reverse-notch" strictly is a 'contradiction in terms'. Here used for the fun/pun effect for a "protrusion".

(a notch either on the front or back, top/bottom/side would still just be a "notch")
when i heard 'reverse' notch, i think the notch located at the back of phone. i mean REVERSE is not correct word for this -_-, take not Mr. writer, It is Protruding Notch, P-R-O-T-R-U-D-I-N-G
Would be more natural with a soft arc side to side. Oh wait, we got that ten years ago....
Retro!
It's not that bad looking to me I bet the reverse notch is a slider that can slide up when you need the front facing cameras.
XTR, 25 Apr 2019Why not just make the top bezel a little thicker to house the camera? Problem solved. The reason they doing this is they want to avoid that design.

Although the reverse notch might look OK on a laptop (Asus Zenbook S13 - where they stole the idea from), it surely looks stupid and ugly on a phone.
Then again, if they stretch it along the top it will look much better - but that's Sony isn't it?
Are we sure that this is not a pop up thingy? Doesnt make much sense otherway.
Just like a noob playing tetris.
The block keep growing longer, once you reach the top, game over.
: Hey Xiaomi why don't you extend the reverse-notch right across the entire top of the phone so it doesn't look so bad. Oh wait nevermind, that's a bezel ! Lol...
Whackcar, 25 Apr 2019A far better design than that is the one ZTE has visualized here: https://www.gsmarena.com/zte... moreThey're just as bad. Moving parts is a no-no, but so are protrusions. I hate notches as much as most other people do, but if these are the answers they're giving us, I would rather take the notch or the hole-punch display.

What Xiaomi has patented is just downright distasteful.
