Sony Ericsson is a joint venture! That means 50% belongs to Sony and the other 50% to Ericsson!
so it's not just patents from Ericsson and some money! Look up what a joint venture is and you'll see you are wrong!

They merged their mobile handset division with sony's to bring together their collective tech. They may hair close down their operations in the US and othe markets during their restructuring (just as Nokia did) but they lib on as pay of the design processor. Yes, sony will buy out Ericsson's training stock in the joint ventured, but that's all on Sony wanting to have full control and integration into their ecosystem.

Before, they also called:
- Mango for Xperia mini
- Urushi (=lacquer) for Xperia Ray
- Satsuma (=honey citrus) for Xperia active
- Mulberry for WT18 Walkman
- Smultron (=strawberry) for mini pro
PS. english isn't the mandatory language for a codename.

So the new xperia mini with a 3'5 ince screen is the same size as the Xperia arc in the photo, think it will have a bigger screen than 3'5 if thats correctly matching the phone to the specs at hand.

liveroy, 16 Jan 2012Switched from SGS2 to Xperia Arc S and the difference is insane.Was getting problems with that... moreAs far as I know switching from Galaxy SII( if you had it) to Xperia Arc is a downgrade even with that monstruous horrible laggy TouchWiz. SII has some things over it and as far as I know Arc/ Arc S has bugs too, hardware ones (cracking case, peeling paint)

If there is any other company who gives you a smartphone at an affordable price with high end specs except reducing camera(5MP) and screen size(3.5') for low end smartphones...
Only thing is they should bring Xperia with walkman or cyber-shot combo....
It is great to see mass memory in Xperia line-up's.... Though the in-built memory is high they should provide expansion slot for memory card....

And from this year there will be just Sony.... moreYou`re so wrong dude, you have no idea. ;) Ericsson hold more than 40% of all network coverage in the world and is untochable N1 in that area. Also Ericsson can live just from patents and cross licensing... but still they don`t do that and inovate in many areas.
Did you see their last tech - using human body to transfer content from one device to other with just touching two devices...?

Gent, Sony Ericson was Japanese cos Ericsson was taking pat in this just as part of brand name and patents.
It's like Sony Samsung displays - everything was samsung property and sony investing some money
