Dear Huawei,
Please don't make phones for little girl hands, we want BIG phones. Please make a Mate 30 X. The Mate 20 X still fits nicely into my pocket, because I'm not wearing little girl pants.

abigfanoftechs, 04 May 2019Don't buy Huawei phones, they're not devs friendly! I'm glad that the US government had stopp... moreYes because the majority of phone users are devs... just because you can't root and change EMUI for something else isn't a valid reason to hate a company to the point you agree with the ban XD just get another phone, the whole point of gsmarena to most users is so they can find what phone would be best for them, not get personally invested in a phone that clearly isn't for you.

aimisme, 04 May 2019dear huawei, please dont making a huge phone, people want to put they phone on the pocket ri... moreA 19.5:9 6.7 inch display is as wide as 5.7 inch 16:9 display. Considering tiny bezels, it is as big as 5.5 inch display of 3-4 years ago. In other words, it is quite pocketable.

If it is too big for you, check out P30 or P30 pro. Or any flagship phone you like. They don't have identical hardware and software but they're pretty close when compared side by side.

abigfanoftechs, 04 May 2019That's why said "devs" and not "average consumers." I'm a dev & when friends/families a... moreHold on a second, so you classify yourself as a developer and aware that you're different from everyone else i.e average consumer, yet when your families/friends ask which phone THEY should buy you suggest them to get/avoid particular products based on YOUR preference? If they want a support they want it from the companies' support centres or someone who know a little bit more about how phones work, not from "devs" on XDA(unless your families and friends fully acknowledge what BL unlock/Custom ROM/Magisk/SU permission etc are and truly enthusiastic about Android OS).

I fully agree with Hildr, you should warn them about the risk of having a phone with locked bootloader only when they're interested in rooting. For average people who just use their phones as their communication tools, bootloader unlocking is last thing they should know.

aimisme, 04 May 2019dear huawei, please dont making a huge phone, people want to put they phone on the pocket ri... moreAgreed. They're called phablets by the way. The best sized phone of all times for me personally - Galaxy S8. Ideal screen / body size ratio, not too big and not too small.

abigfanoftechs, 04 May 2019That's why said "devs" and not "average consumers." I'm a dev & when friends/families a... moreYou're mistaking dev and tech support. And then, you can also dev your app for a phone without unlocking a phone.
My brother was always into rooting phone etc, he never had, nor I had, issue, to help the whole family with their tech problem without unlocking a single phone.
There are people that don't like thing like the manufacturer choose to be. That the only reason there is a need to unlock bootloader. Not development, nor tech support.

Plus for family, the last thing I will want, is to unlock their phone. The more secure and the less they can do with the parameter is the best. Nothing worse than big power with low knowledge. Or manual update without the knowledge about it.

The only valid warning you can say is "Do not buy this phone IF YOU want to unlock it" because it's the only thing to say about it. And the market already proved people don't care about it.

I would dream of a phone with 18/9 ratio and not 19.5/9, with no curved screen for this mate 30 pro, and a hiding selfy camera… but well, we already know it will not be like this.

Should that pic with DSLR and Cine lenses make me believe that this phone is in the same league as DSLR and Cine cameras?

Nick Tagataka, 04 May 2019You're mistaking GSMArena as XDA, mate. Not everybody is interested in unlocking bootloader. That's why said "devs" and not "average consumers."

I'm a dev & when friends/families ask for recommendation I tell them "avoid Huawei."
I would tell them to go for Xiaomi for value & Samsung for quality/support.

Remember that devs are techs support for friends & families.
:-)

kiki, 04 May 20194k video is disaster on all huawei phones !!! They do not allow us to have 4k 60p like all oth... moreWhy do you guys need to be so rude in the comments?
Maybe you don't like Huawei phones and you got own reasons for that. But please do not exaggerate in your comments...
I got a Mate 20X and my wife got a P30 pro and we are more than happy with it...video is not bad. I admit that it is not the greatest but still very good. It is also true thay AI makes the pics a little bit too smooth but overall the camera provides tremendous pics.
I got a S7 edge before and the improvement is huge on every single aspect.

I feel like by the time foldable phones become a thing, phones will be as big as tablets anyway.

Manu76, 03 May 2019All phones with SD 855 will have a worse camera photography than Mate 30 pro. Thanks for the i... moreCamera hardware is a completely different component from SoC, and it's mainly due to the P30 Pro's superior camera optics, not the chipset.
Besides, there's one thing the Snapdragon 855 does better than Kirin 980, and even the Snapdragon 845;
