DanBal76, 19 Jan 2012I dont like Sony Ericsson. It's slow on updates and when the so called flagship of the company... moreHave you heard about microSD cards? Who cares about internal memory?
Its a sad news for a company that builds quality phones, yeah their phones are kind a high priced, but you get a reliable and sturdy phone that doesn't look like others copycat of others, their products are time tested and reliable, so even that bad news, i will still buy sony phones, have 7 of them from the k800i and so on,, still sony
the SE diehard fans are contradicted to what they're saying about the brand.
They always saying that SE is the top quality compare to other brands but why does SE brand suffering from this report? hhmm..
AnonD-1715, 19 Jan 2012What else do you expect when your flagship is a single core phone competing against dual core ... moreMy thoughts exactly. Here in Mexico SE's prospective sales would have been even lower considering you can get dual core smartphones like the Motorola Razr for close to USD$80 less than the Xperia Arc, with 18 month contracts, of course.
It's no wonder their sales are so poor when they are pricing their phones so high even when their specs are not comparable to the competition.
I agree with some comments citing SE's follow-the-leader approach. They seem to have favored stability over cutting-edge technology. Among the smartphones that I've used (Nokia, Apple, Samsung, SE) my xperia neo (gingerbread) has been the most reliable--next is Nokia E52 then iPhone 3GS. My Galaxy Ace (froyo) was the worst--hangs all the time. Back to SE, this overly-conservative approach has eroded their reputation as a technology leader.
Its a shame they are now doing so poorly. One of the most memorable phones I ever had was the K790. What an awesome phone! Its nothing special by today's standards but for its time had an awesome camera that shot really great photos. I still have that thing! I also had the Vivaz. Not a bad phone either and its camera was decent too. It just seems that in a world of Android phones, they just kinda got lost.
sad result but i still love SE.. oops SONY!! ahah
i will wait for the new handset mini... the st25i the successor of the xperia minis... trololol... can't wait!! haha
why buy sony ericsson? High price, with low spec. Competitor like samsung, low price with good spec. Sony think your pricing, ex. Sony ion, or xperia s. If your price is too high , i wl go for iphone. Sony or sonyericsson same result failure.
See here comes the difference when you compete with market ,,, samsung makes much better device then erriccson you cannot fool customers making a walkman or camera or or style phones,,, now days many many devices has all these in one specially when you look into galaxy series,,, just take a lesson from samsung whose all varieties to fulfill users need ,,,, I bet if HTC will not improve thier Battery and camera performance they will have to bear big loss,,, user are smarter then smartphones that they select them very carefully because smartphones users are young people who knows all about Their hardware and software specs ,,, I have seen Almost all young peoples who more care about performance rather then style and fancy look,,, I have used some Sony Ericsson devices my experience was too bad so no more ericsson.
Anonymous, 20 Jan 2012This is not about hardware it's about user experience. Sony should move to WP7 instead of the ... morewhat you talk about android share 51% and
windows phone 1.4
why samsung and htc sell very well with android
and Nokia fail to impress sell lumia 800 in UK
are you sure windows phone 7.5 great system
until now limited app availability
if i compare with ios or android
i think the other phone makers should learn from apple. you dont see apple bringing out a phone every month they make one great product.
This is not about hardware it's about user experience. Sony should move to WP7 instead of the terrible Android.
thats too bad, I thought SE was a good brand that every fanboys keeps debating that it was the best brand ever, but in reality only few people bought them, ironic :)
The sales figures make no sense. People are illogical. The 2011 Xperias are great, and IMO the Xperia Pro is the best device on the entire market at any price (hardware QWERTY is unbeatable, and this is exactly half the cost of an iPhone). I suppose it doesn't help that you can only buy it online in the UK.
AnonD-1715, 19 Jan 2012What else do you expect when your flagship is a single core phone competing against dual core ... more"Dual core" is pointless and barely used in Gingerbread. The SE single cores and smoothness > dual core Samsungs. Here in the UK SE have been more reasonably priced than Samsung.
"Quad core" is even more pointless.
Distribution and marketing are very big issues.
If people can at least touch the phones they make, i'm sure they will get a lot more sales.
Little carrier support and no marketing.
Their brand is almost Non-existant in America.
AnonD-4697, 19 Jan 2012Bad news for SE fans. Future looks obscure for that company.I very much doubt that, the Ion and Xperia S should be the beginning of the climb back upwards and to profitability under the sole stewardship of Sony!
Timescape UI killed Sony Ericsson...
What else do you expect when your flagship is a single core phone competing against dual core monsters for almost the same price(at least in India).....n you r about to launch a dual core phone when others r going to come up with quad core phones.....
The have this poor performance becouse they made from 2008 to 2012 poor mobile phones with poor performance and specifications at high pricese.. and nobady bought them..
Camera performance at xperia line... has a huge dissapoint for cybershot fans.. and sonyericsson gain popularity with good camera and music phones...and leading inovations.. right now they make mid-phones with high prices...
