Simply a classic camera phone (it was bog-standard for everything else) - but those pictures on it...

      Still amazing by today's standards...

Nokia N8 has 1/1.8 sensor which is more than double the size of the 13MPX by Sony(17 to 38 mm^2) while carrying more pixels.
How much artificiality can you possible simulate to bring the images at least on par with the N8s' . Answer: Not enough in today's tech....

Great stuff but again Sony you need to get these to the market quick and use Xenon and Dual-Led components..Also you need good quality lenses or its all for nothing.

sony is one of the most reputed brands in the world . They have brought many new intentions from cd , walkman , cybershot, handycam , bravia.their japanese quality is far better than korean rivals.so they can bash competition from samsung etc sony is absolutely the greatest

Like someone else said on here, hopefully these will appear in their flagships announced MWC..

However, looking at those timescales, I suspect you're looking at next year's models...

I do hope the trend is to start adding functionality to phones instead of this push towards "thin" phones...

People want xenon, people want larger, thicker batteries... until manufacturers realise it's not just about how thin and light, it's about functionality... the happier we'll all be!

As for Sony leading the way, I'm not sure - GSM did a preview of photos made on the new range, didn't look that hopeful...

Fingers crossed there is a Hayabusa and Mint and they're powerhouses! Otherwise Sony will be left behind in the specs race once again... (especially with the likes of LG bringing out a quad-core phone this year!)

                          Gone are days of Cybershot.....
You can put 24MPX , but without correct sensor size those would be useless..... there is a reason why DSLRs use lower MPX count and larger sensors.....
Nokia put 1/1.8 sensor in the mobile back in mid 2010.
More reason, why N8 is N8 and by the look of things, 2012 is still not enough to de-throne the king......

Johnnation, 23 Jan 2012It would be easier for them to just put a xenon flash in one of the phones....N8 rules...they can do that with xenon flash unless you dont complain about the thickness of the phone. Xenon flash need capacitor and they're about AAA size battery!
