If you want intelligent blurring algorithms look for Google, iPhone, Huawei or Samsung. They're the closest to simulating real blur.
Xypleth, 16 May 2019Sorry to break it to you, but by definition it's a fake feature to begin with.Indeed, but as they DO measure distances, the faking should be more clever blurring more for objects far from the focus plan than near to.
Actually it should depend on a (user selectable) DoF,
It is not difficult to find functions for what is optically going on for real bokeh, so should not be theoretically hard to fake. Sure it will require processing power, but with modern chips it should not be an issue, unless we are talking video.
What a load of bullshit. The texture is an oil painting, overexposure on most of the photos, artifacting.. etc. It's not a horrible result, but DxO mark is not to be taken seriously.
4K vs 1080p for iPhone and Samsung on video?
They truly know how to make competing devices look bad, when you're interested in it.
I can't tell any difference from the pixel 3 upwards, every cam looks alike. Though: fake bokeh is fake and I hate it on my pixel 3 as everywhere else.
"The camera firmware used for the DxOMark tests is not yet currently available to consumers. OnePlus will make it available as an over-the-air update before the end of the month."
How's burst quality? Does it capture with no motion blur? Does it capture in full resolution? Oh yeah... DxO doesn't do that in their tests
As I see it the fake bokeh, it looks, well: Fake...
It looks like an on/off bluring, and not something GRADUALLY changing with the distance to the focus plane....
I don't find the photos any better, or maybe worse than S10. Not sure how DXO actually give such scores.
DxOMark has become a marketing tool for few smartphone manufacturers! In GSMA review, S10s camera was arguably better than 7 Pro, but here in DxO its very close to S10! I, for one never liked how OnePlus's camera quality all through!
I was watching the reviews of Oneplus 7 Pro as it flooded the Youtube and I don't know how accurate I am, but literally my LG G6 can produce better result than this 48MP sensor even in low light and wide angle on LG G6 is way better than 7 Pro only good thing I found in 7 Pro is that they were able to fixed the distortion in wide angle shots. I am just talking about rear cam I know front cam of G6 is simply trash.
You do not have to beloeve what DxO team says.
But at least should read the whole review, not just look at the score.
I doubt any other explanation will be as detailed as theirs.
If you prefer to believe bias people on youtube that dont give any guarantee they used the devices they claim, no exif data, ignore differences in focal length/settings and only talk about colour and details in shadows it's your choice ...
I feel glad to know brands like Oppo, Vivo, Sony and Htc dont send them gifts in exchange of compliments.
I am getting this not because of the camera but for the screen...was waiting for the Xperia 1's 4K OLED screen but seriously, you can't announce a phone in Feb and 5 months later, NOTHING!
This article is completely at odds with all the reviews by techs on YouTube. At best, the cameras are solid rather than great! And they are supposedly paid reviewers.....!
As everyone is questioning the credibility of DXO Mark , I want to highlight some key points.
DXO labs tests the in some certain fixed conditions. Wide angle camera is unused, many pro features and additional features ate unused .
Do, just by optimizing the camera for spme certain situation can score big for a camera .
And One plus did exactly that . They have neen working with for a few years in optimizing the camera . So, their phone is just optimized for DXO scenarios.
While the wide angle camera in worse then top Midrangers. And no night or low light photo is included in the DXO test .
Without these OP7 pro can be a camera phone.
Hm, OnePlus cashed out, DxO is getting richer and richer. Can't see that OP7 Pro camera is any better than Galaxy S10 or Mate 20 Pro, sorry.
Er Pupone , 14 May 2019Is it also possible that DxoMark says a little bit true?
When you look at the hardware it see... moreTo be clear for those who don't know DxOMark yet: it's a company that provides consulting services to manufacturers for image processing. AND they happen to review smartphone cameras on the side. What a coincidence. Company A pays for their consulting services and company B doesn't. Which one gets the highest rating in your opinion? A or B?
I read an article in which one of DxOMark's people was asked about potential conflict of interest. The only line he could come up with was something along the lines of "We have strong ethics and we swear that our consulting activity doesn't impact our reviews." There you have it.
ProJames-CHM, 14 May 2019You're implying that DxO had ANY credibility prior to this moment. I'm sorry but you're wrong.... moreOh I fully agree with you (and actually have commented similar things before), I just wanted to include the last people who still had any doubts left.
