That's strange that many people have encountered issues since they've updated their P970s to GB. I personally updated my phone about a week ago, and everything seems to be working like a dream - the whole usage experience is much smoother, i don't encounter lags anymore, AF in the camera has indeed improved a lot, I've got more free RAM, as Android 2.3 consumes a lot less memory, and overall I am pleasantly surprised with the software upgrade. As far as tactile feedback while touching any of the four capacitive buttons, which has changed as well, I think this alongside fewer seconds of backlighting the buttons are to improve battery life, but I am not 100% percent sure about that. If I were to say my opinion on Android 2.3.4 update for the Optimus Black, I would strongly recommend it.

Android update 2.3.4(GB) is available for LG P970(optimus black) mobile phone from LG india web site.
download the LG upgrade software from LG mobile web site > select your country as INDIA> and start upgrade as GB2.3.4. For me all the functions very well. also i found battery back up is very good. Only thing is LG got this update very very late.

I used Advanced Task Killer (Froyo) to control my applications, seems it was not compatible with the new version of the Android, GB. Now the phone is working smoothly after uninstalling it...

Some problems got fixed by upgrading to GB and some visual effects added also... but now, it is working slower with more hesitations! I'm thinking of rolling back Froyo if it is possible!

Gingerbread is very beautiful and better performance than froyo, especialy the battery. I'm from middle east, the update is there also. thanks LG, I'm waiting for cream sandwich....... be quick

AnonD-48355, 29 Mar 2012Does the region matter when we upgrade the phone???Yes region matters as you will get update based on your region. I am in India but got my OB from US and has to wait longer than others in India for the update. Moreover applications are also different for different regions.
So yes region matters......

Updating to new version is very easy and took around 45 mins. Its will just help you to get few more cool application from android marked. Otherwise it the same.

start, connect n update.. no probs at all.. got mine to 2.3.4 yesterday n it feels quite good..
