It is not a selfish move by Sony...
actually it is Ericsson who has forced Sony to buy out the shares..it was going on for last 1.5 years. It is because, in every year, Ericsson's profit from Network Infrastructure was undermined by the losses from SE(Ericsson needed to handle 50% of the losses from the JV).
So Ericsson did a smart thing to throw away the shares and Sony had to buy them.
Ericsson already have the best mobile chip maker(ST-Ericsson) which is used by Nokia, Moto etc..
Now I hope Ericsson release their own handset(fingers crossed)... still hoping for the next spiritual successor to R380 which I owned...maybe running Android or any other capable OS.

Come on Ericsson start making them cells again, show Sony what mistake they have made. Ericsson have always been better than Sony in communications Sony no nothing.

Sony will not form a 50/50 venture with Motorola Mobility as it is wholly owned by Google!!!

Sony is nothing when it comes im Mobile phone they Steals others innovation..
just take a look the named '' Ericsson '' sounds like a Big Brother , the Sony lets see a name of a Girl. the Apple name of a qeen Gay.. :lol:

Haven't you heard that Google just bought Motorola? And why would Sony pay good money to get out of a bad partnership with Ericsson to get into another partnership? Sony paid EUR1 Bill to have a say in the business. Partnering with any company now would be back to square one (minus EUR 1 billion), wouldn't it?

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2012I was hopin that when Sony acquired the remaining shares of Ericsson, I feel its time for Sony... moreI hope this marks a new beggining for sony, but if they don´t improve quickly i can´t see sony maching up with apple, samsung, htc or nokia, we could be on the verge of more fusions, i belive that we have a lot of brands, i would be pleased if i saw a fusion between sony and another brand... maybe motorola that seems to be in trouble as well, rim also as problems so we can expect some brands to merge the global market is not that large...

Sony is doing great i think! I live in a country where ppl talk only abt Iphone. I've owned an SE for like 7 yrs now :), loved it evryday n even 2day! Am gonna keep my SE even after buying my Xperia S..who knows it might come in hand in future :)

i think ericsson will have the chance to come out BIG just like sony cause the design plans and all those things have been designed by both companies...my question is though the remaining SE units that still exist under which name will those sell now???those will still keep being produced i believe but which company will sell them and under which name or those will continue the SE logo until they are discounted and both companies are going to get their shares
