plopper, 30 Jan 2012Arent Play.com breaking the consumer law? Why falsely put up a release date when that is not e... moreSony have said first quarter, play.com are notorious for claiming items will be released sooner than they actually are in order to bag pre-orders.
It will be released 12th March...
I ordered one already, Cant wait for the best Android device yet. amaaaaaazing Sony, thaaaanks for this.
Sony has confirmed multiple times that Play.com is just happily guessing and trying to attract people to buy it on their website. Sony will not allow the sale of the Xperia S before March.
Delayed? Why? The official release date is March, you can't say it has been delayed just because there have been some rumors that it could come out before March and just becasue an online shop accepted preorders for a date based only on rumors just to get more customers.
The news title should be modified.
I think that Xperia S will rocks and will be big threat for samsung on dual core field and Apple but I wounder... How Sony can't produce xperia S with (Ice cream sandwish) from the first is it to hard? or it is way of marketing? please any one answer me..

Delayed? even after Sony taking full control the habit is still there. It seems there was nothing wrong with Ericsson
Its not even delayed. Play.com's deceptive availability date is to blame. Other online retailers did not change it to January like that play. Play.com just want to rake preorders. When the 'February availability date' comes near they will change it to March and there will be this news again of this 'delay'. Delay is not even the right term here.
Omar, 30 Jan 2012Why people keep saying Sony Ericsson Xperia S?Because this is a Sony Ericsson phone. It might have the "Sony" label stuck on it at the last minute, but the company is actually still Sony Ericsson and this phone was developed by Sony Ericsson.
People thinking that Sony are "starting from scratch" are idiots. It's the same Sony Ericsson employees designing the phones, just they will have a different name.
A delay is okay as long as they're updating this thing. They need upgrade to bluetooth version 4, micro usb, ver 3, secondary camera increased to 5mp, android ICS, quadcore with 2ghz, make it pantaband and put a real battery with 4000mAh then I'll buy this thing and stop waiting for the SGSIII.
Are you listening Sony, I'm serious. Do this and make the phone available before Samsung releases the SGSIII and you'll be the new king.
Play.com is lying and it is quite clear that the February date will not be met either as it is not the confirmed date and never has been. Clove has commented on this and the availability of Sim Free stock. Voda and O2 also confirm March release date.

The truth will always out!

There are several posts on here which clearly doubted the statement from play.com which suggested a 30 January release and pretty sure the 13 February is also a lie.
THE RELEASE DATE FOR THIS HANDSET HAS ALWAYS BEEN STATED AS 5 MARCH AND NOT JANUARY OR FEBRUARY. Go troll elsewhere fanboys!!
From Sony Ericsson's own Site:
Xperia S will be available to consumers globally from the first quarter 2012. Launching on Android platform 2.3 (Gingerbread) Xperia S will be upgraded to Android platform 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) during the second quarter 2012.
