some people are trying to doubt the sucess of WP8, but this news are simply huge, especially with quadcores ARM cpu coming this year, this means that u can use many of apps and games designed for win 8, even though they should be optimized for ARM (i am not sure about this point though!) this is not a big problem as tablets with win 8 designed for ARM cpus will be out soon, and i assure u it will beat ipad sales by end of year (well unless apple makes a mac for tablets!) and there will be tons of apps,, and that microsoft are ready to change their way of thinking and stop copying apple's worst aspects (zune needed for all important operations and micro SDs a no) is a good news too,, hope that they later-on allow third party UI with widget f.ex. !

if both WP8 and windows 8 for the desktop are going to be running on the same platform and will be able to run the same applications, it may be much more practical to invest in a Windows 8 phone (with a bluetooth keyboard) than a windows 8 laptop, even if it means lower specs.

Android user: - shoots himself in the elevator
iOS user: - jumps from the 80florr balcony
WP8 user: - loads AutoCAD 2012 and change the numbers on his way there
or...
You are playing this instance in WoW when your buddies calls to take you for a few beers.
Android user run for a bier, but this epic sword will be taken by someone else
iOS user stays at home, but his friends will call him nolife.
WP8 user - runs a WoW on his phone, and finishes the instance on the way to bar in the bus.

The spec sheet of this is great but only if it will be in our hsnds by March or April.
This sector is likely with more competition than all others combined so I am guessing these features will be seen in the other OS' pretty soon- it wil be a matter of who brought theirs first n then later, intuitiveness, smoothness n ...
Finally I hope this wont be a ground for the phone makers to cut off our heads (pricewise)

Waiting for this since months....
This OS is a Complete Package unlike Buggy Android or Restrcted IOS
WP 8 will surely outspace Android, though IOS always has have some powerfull package equipped with it
Those guys who belive that Malware equipped Android is better now can think of a smooth and safer OS with more advanced options
Google is obviously better in other areas, but in case of smartphones it lags in certain things which an advance user looks for
I am not fanboy for a particular OS, but loves the way WP OS is designed and works

Wow this is good news! I bought my first WP7 (as a 2nd phone to my Android) about a month and a half ago and have fallen in love with its smoothness, responsiveness, and intuitiveness! With WP8, user experience can even be better than it is now so this is certainly good news! I hope my HTC Radar, and all present WP7 generation phones, can be upgraded to Windows 8.

Windows phones have no chance, on a tablet yes b ut not on a phone.....my predictions for the year, android to control the phone world due to its customisation, you phone is after all going to be in your hand alot more than a tablet and you want it your way! i phone is def the best for smoothness and apps but no cstomisation lets it down......apple will still dominate the tablet front cos even the i pad 2 is so much easier and smoother than the new tablets that have come out almost a year since its release....android has its place and thts for phones not for tablets, if windows makes it onto a good number of tablets then it will take second spot maybe even take over apple but not for a while yet

I will love win8 for other thing:
Who will care about 128 999GHZ cores on Android device, if You couldn't run 3d studio on it? What is the use of 5TB of RAM on android device, when there is no adobe photoshop to use it? Why to bother about and NVIDIA GFXXXXX999 GPU on where there is no Battlefield 4 to run on it? And there won't be.
Why?
Because porting software to different architecture is costly, and because there is no reason when MAJORITY of PC users will (sooner or later) buy wp8 for their desktop. ANd with WP8 sharing almost everything between mobile and desktop versions, there will be no need for some special mobile version. U will just run your typical MS Office app, AutoDesk AutoCAD, Heroes of might and magic VII and Quake V on your WP8 phone.
WP8 WILL be the beginning of an end of android and iOS. User will have the choise - a phone with all desktop apps available+ lots of leightwieght written for phones but coud be used on desktops or even xbox, or shitty android wchich needs four 2 GHZ cores to run smoothly - joke, without any "serious" app onboard.

3 major concerns with Windows Mobile...
(and maybe people who have used it extensively can answer this)...
I've used Launcher 7 on Android which gives I think a good indication of how Win OS works..
But...
My main concerns are;
1. Use of the U.I. - if you install 100s of apps, then scrolling lower and lower and lower through an endless list of tiles - is this not as laborious as it sounds... once you start using 2x1 tiles, etc - it's pretty poor to use
2. Widgets - again there's nothing like a music player 4x4 widget with artwork, controls, etc. like Poweramp or something, again I assume the U.I. can't support this? and if it did, it would make the tiling even LONGER
3. Am I right in thinking you can't just drag / drop files into Winmo? You have to use a PC app (like itunes does with iphone) - because if so... that's a major sticking point with me...
Anyone (apart from Smarties) have the answer? ;)
