although Android was being developed as early as 2003 it was always being developed as a smartphone OS.
Due to Apple's closed environment it's difficult to say when they started to develop iOS. But one thing's for certain, it takes years to develop a fully working platform as smooth & advanced as both iOS and Android so it's safe to assume they started development at around the same time.
The fact is. There were no products released of any shape or form using the android platform until after the iPhone.
It could also be argued (very truthfully) that these technologies were around before the iPhone. But even the most blindfolded apple hater has to admit that the iPhone changed the game.
Sure there were touchscreen phones but these were on the whole, pants. (with the possible exception of the SE P900 which was a fantastic phone in its day) but look at the face of the smartphone market both pre & post iPhone & look at the handsets released by all the big manufacturers & you'll see they certainly jumped on the iPhone bandwagon.
I have nothing but respect for Google with the Android platform & they certainly saved a lot of phone companies from oblivion, motorola being the biggest example, but even Samsung was floundering aimlessly with windows 6.1 & Symbian devices (i900 omnia, Omnia HD etc). Their own efforts in the Bada platform haven't made a dent
HTC's efforts were boring & chunky winmo 6.1 bricks until the iPhone. they then got sleeker with the HTC touch HD & Diamond but were still hampered by a poor OS until Android came along.
I'm not defending any particular OS & indeed, I think it's sad that people seem to think they garner some sort of kudos for deciding to buy a certain product (even though they had absolutely nothing to do with development of it) & then rabidly hate someone else for not following their choice. Shallow in the extreme...
Just trying to give credit where it's due. & the iPhone certainly deserves credit as does Android.

I never mentioned anything about who copied from who. I just stated a simple fact.

Notifications on screen were around before Android, Facetime is simply video calling that kicked off when 3g networks came about, and icloud is just apple's version of the latest thing in computing. There were smartphones around before Android, and Google didn't invent everything.

Android was out BEFORE iPhone with iOS.
iPhone 1st gen, was an iPod with mobile tech inside, not more, App Store was the real revolution and that came a little later than the first gen iPhone and at that time, like the Nokia N95 and Nokia N73 were way better phones. N95 already had GPS and all functionality like iPhone 1st gen... iPhone 1st gen really wasnt that great, just a logic step, after the success of the iPod.

And I think it is funny, that the stupid design is actually the only argument of apple, like the design is the only reason for success, i mean it looks good, but not not leagues better than models of competitors... See how stupid all you said sounds?

All of this is bad news for customers. It doesn't matter what company gets a ban on any other company. The whole thing holds back innovation, leading to phones going through such iterative advances instead of leaping forward.

None of the androids or iphones are crap, just differents aproachs of the same tech. Apple took some ideas, androids took some and the story goes on and on.
Just pick whatever it suits you, and leave the other party alone.
