I'm sad that Symbian will die because like all of you I used Nokia with its Symbian OS as my first phone and kept upgrading for 7 years just with them since 2000 then when iPhone came out it really changed the whole idea of what a mobile phone can do so I had to buy it instead of changing my N95 to N96 as in my country the price of iPhone 3G and N96 was kinda the same but the funny thing that Nokia kept pumping untouch screen phones for a while which was not good for its market share then Nokia 5800 came out that has the worst touch screen I have ever used and at that point I got disapointed in Nokia so for me Nokia was done after N95 release and to stay in the market with WP7 against iOS and Android that will be so hard for them
I don't care. If it will be the last symbian device, it won't stop working after they stop developing symbian. And as long it will work stable - I'm happy. There are still many ancient nokia phones that still works and people uses them for calling and texting. I will definately buy N8's successor if it will have best phone camera.

I have a feeling that Nokia will announce the N8 successor at MWC. Elop will do all his evil ploy to damage its reputation and sway customers from it but it will outsell their Nokia Lumias altogether in the end just like what they did with the N9 and how the N9 outsold the Lumia 800 despite being a dead end device and not getting equal promotion.
NOKIA! NOKIA! NOKIA! NOKIA! NOKIA!
Please use Android OS, so that you won't be dethroned as the best seller. Sure you can keep the budget type phones, many people still buy it, but please go with what's new and don't promote weird OS'es.
Use the best processors as well as GPU.
I understand your pride about the Symbian OS, but it's not working now these days.
tech media has always been negative against symbian.so much so that they killed symbian in2011 itself.symbian is still surviving and selling 74 million in a year.wait for belle to come soon in feb only.Carla will follow it.and Nokia has always told that they will support symbian with updates till 2016.compare it with android and see how many updates android devices get.

It's good that Symbian is getting killed fast, that OS needs a closure, it's dragging like a TV series that has lost all plot, end it already, release this last phone and be done with it.
I have used many phone in past years , now I own a Nokia N8 from past two years.. i Love my phone. I always feel very sad when i hear nokia is abandoning syambian. But Nokia is forgetting they have grown to such heights due to symbian. one show never forget their past.
AnonD-39775, 05 Feb 2012nokia n9, nokia n8 and all the nokias in the last 3 years were born dead from their first seco... moreI could agree on the N9 being dead but definitely not the N8. Symbian is still gaining market share despite all these negative news. In fact, Symbian's sales rose 28 percent from Q3 to Q4 last year. New batch of N8s with Belle pre-installed have already been shipped to replenish the still considerable amount of demand for the phone. The Nokia Store has just reached the 1 billion milestone in downloads with the N8 as the most used device to access and download contents. And from the comments and reactions from people on this board and on any Nokia-related discussion you can clearly see which is their preferred OS. They prefer Symbian to Windows Phone. Symbian is not dead, not yet. It still holds a substantial portion of the market. Stephen Elop is just trying to kill it to get it out of the way of Windows Phone.
Albert, 04 Feb 2012why is windows not good ? Come with facts. power consumption and i don't want a qualcomm chipset
Bart, 04 Feb 2012Former symbian users are moving towards Android not windows.
Windows is simply said not good.... moreyou're totally right bart......of course sales went dramatically down, they made no phones.

Yes, the... morenokia n9, nokia n8 and all the nokias in the last 3 years were born dead from their first second on the market, because they are so obsolete. nokia n91 can be updated or nokia n86. but they are DEAD. NOKIA N8,N9 CAN RECEIVE UPDATES UNTIL APOCALIPSE, THEY ARE DEAD FROM THEIR FIRST DAY. UNDERSTOOD? stupid proud of nokia make them to not watch carefully when iphone was born. their fat brain can't understood that touch screens with funny games and apps and fast internet browser are the future. no cameras with good optics, no megapixels, no nokia brand. their decline begun since the first iphone 3 was born. they deserve to die

No to demise of symbian. No symbian, no phone!
As a former Nokia/Symbian long time user, and even a fan, I've switched to Android last year. Was waiting to see N9/Meego gain momentum, and hoped that Elop's claims that that would be the first and last device running Meego turn out not to be true. But as that was never to going to happen, I switched to Android, even though it still sub par to Symbian in some areas, the overall experience is very positive. Windows Phone still has a long, long way to go, before it can boast some market share.
And I blame Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop for the rapid decline of Symbian. Why fake the surprise? He devoted near all resource to WP7. After 15+ years running Nokia, the day when I need to upg and Symbian is not available, is the day I will adopt to HTC. That what I decided. Thanks Elop!
AnonD-39775, 05 Feb 2012nokia is good now only from bottom models, from zero, up to models like asha 300. stop. models... moreA phone that will be getting firmware updates until 2016 is definitely far from dead. Yes, the N8 and other existing Symbian^3 phones will be supported until 2016. Nokia even confirmed that from a query on twitter. And no! The great camera is not wasted on the N8. 10 million people are actually still using it.
And now Elop decides to seal the fate of N8's successor by announcing that its going to be the last Symbian phone. Who would want to waste money on a phone that comes with zero commitment from the manufacturer and a guarantee of zero new third party apps in the future.
