BlueHeart the illest, 08 Feb 2012I agree, a think microsoft is paying him under the table to make Windows the only OS and Nokia... moreI don't think so. There's a lot of factors that made Symbian unappealing to both devs and users. It's fragmented, with so many versions of Symbians and also different firmwares for each model, not to mention different aspect ratio. That, and the N97 sealed Symbian's fate, making it look crap when compared to iOS. It's hard to change that perception to the masses since the N97 was Nokia's ''In-your-face'' flagship at the time. Plus, a lot of users are finding WP7 to be looking pleasing and fun to use.
This is quite sad, rough times for the sacked workers. I guess this is the price of transition, but if it meant survival of the company, so be it. They could've at least offered an alternative. I don't expect lower quality models, but the ''Made in China'' syndrome can be quite strong. I hope Nokia enforces their rules strongly to maintain their phone's quality.
My idea it's good strategy but Nokia from china it is low quality than Finland.
Phone Addict, 08 Feb 2012Nokia need to sack Stephen Elop ASAP! He is killing a once great company. I agree, a think microsoft is paying him under the table to make Windows the only OS and Nokia is caught in the cross fire. Symbian was really looking up and then he just squashes it. all they needed to do was get more app developers.
Anonymous , 08 Feb 2012Made in Finland is not a guarantee quality... iPhone is made in china since ever and still muc... moreand u know this is how Nokia survives bcuz u r the vice-ceo right???? No? ue not? are u sure ur not some official from nokia with the stats right infront of him??
I didnt think so -_-
customers wanting cheaper prices + investors wanting higher profits = China syndrome
Anonymous, 08 Feb 2012That's a really sad note to hear they moving smartphone production primarily to China.... Atle... moreI own a N97 mini designed in finland but made in china. and im pretty sure that if u take another look at ur N8 it will say the same. the problem was most likely the OS since thay both run the same 1. because the iPhone is designed on US soil but made in china. maybe ur just not gud with slide out keyboards hahaha
It really doesn't matter where the phone is made but what is important is how the phone is built. iPhone for all you know had "Made in China" but no one talks about it because it has Apple brand powering it. So it the phone has a good built quality and has a software that can do things you want your phone to do, it will be the best phone ever. Feel sorry for all the people who will lose jobs. Hope Nokia comes up with an alternative instead of removing them from jobs.
Kooma, 08 Feb 2012Keep dreaming that is all I can say about quality of made in China.you have no idea how many things are made in china smh lol just bcuz they move to china doesnt mean the qualit will be chinese. as long as it's designed by the same great Finnish minds there wont be a problem. i am holding an iPhone 4 right now and the back says "assembled in china" but designed in california, which pretty much means "made in china but by our rules"
That's a really sad note to hear they moving smartphone production primarily to China.... Atleast I have my N8 made in Finland And still very happy with it. It's been my experience that China's quality has been dismal to say the least. I've had N97 previously 'made in China' with endless hardware malfunction to the point that the handset became beyond economical repair! And not covered under warranty! That seriously infuriated me. The next phone to infuriate me was the C6 also made in China. Endless dropped calls And system reboots. Had the phone at Nokia repair center And they said it was firmware which they upgraded And the reason for the dropped calls was the antenna which they replaced. Alas that did not solve the problems yet it did happen at a less frequent interval. I've had a series of Nokia handsets over the years which are all still fully functional except for these 2 I've mentioned made in China.... So I made a point to steer clear of all their handsets made in China. It would seem I May have to leave Nokia in future if they don't manufacture in Finland any longer.....
Nokia need to sack Stephen Elop ASAP! He is killing a once great company.
cutting jobs is good for our pockets as long we do not work at nokia. china will become 1st economic driving force in the world. a good tip for everyone: learn URGENT russian and chinese languages AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE if you want to have a job in the near future. remember my words !!!
For any company to survive and return to its pinnacle ,these things are unavoidable.
nokia is doing really bad nowdays..if it wants to survive,it should have android os on their fones otherwise.......
Nokia's instability issues in their own company inside are clear now since they switched to wp7 as their primary platform.i believe nokia will become a bankrupt company by the reason of the continuous decline of wp7 by angry users since its release .by 2013 Nokia will be sleeping in the page of history ! "RIP nokia" (crying)
Android, plz let them to sell atleast 1million total wp7 hansets in a year
