That is so important, when you do have several devices, to propose a «narrative» to justify each of them.
HTC lost it in 2011 trying to identify every device to the family with similar esthetic features, in the end it became boring to set them apart.
Sony showed that singularity should not be spelled by hardware or power differences, but by "raison d'être". The Ray is the pinacle of this mind set. Ray is as able as the other but with the aim to be brainy and small, a technological item remote from status gadget territory.
Now Sony UI is the weakest link, it needs a change of attitude.
