Anonymous, 31 Jul 2019And the award for the best joke of 2019 goes to... "iPhones with Shittiatek CPUs."They are made by same company. TSMC so what your problem dude???
At least mediatek dont throttling like apple chips. And for gaming this one should be excellent.
On apple chips gaming is not possible just 2 hours and battery is dead and phone is hot like overbaked chicken or potatos.
such brilliant performance has always been unexpected from mediatek, but this gaming chipset is going to be an eye-opener for many people
Im waiting for a hand on experience of Helio G90 it looks extremely powerful
Anonymous, 31 Jul 2019Don't listen other guys. They have no idea what they are talking about.
Mediatek never made... moreIn fact they try 2 Times :
- with Helio X30 (it's true that X10 and X20 serie weren't)...10nm process like others high-end, GPU was PowerVR GT7400T (when iPhones used GT7600T). So that it's 2/3 of high-end, we can't call that mid-range any more
- with mt6595, the Cortex A17 were better than Krait 450 on Qualcomm's, it encoded 4k in h265 when SD805 only decoded it, was able to do slow motion.
Unfortunately, despite interessant features, the only customer of X30 was Meizu and about mt6595, they find only two : Meizu and Zopo.
You're true, when noboby can buy some of your products it's useless to build that kind
Anonymous, 31 Jul 2019Why don't they make something on the level of sd855? Don't listen other guys. They have no idea what they are talking about.
Mediatek never made a high-end chipset. They didn't even try it.
The source of the confusion coming from the marketing of Mediatek. They introduced Helio X line as flagship line, but they were actually strictly mid-range.
The reason of why they aren't developing high-end chips is cost. Such a chip needs more than 250M USD. If they can't sell enough chips, all of those cost gonna turn a loss. Mediatek isn't large enough to take such a risk probably.
High-end game is usually "winner takes it all" game. Samsung and Huawei are making they own high-end chipsets, but both are rich and their own handsets guarantees at least 20M units of chipsets probably. Maybe even more.
Mediatek can do at least good as a Kirin flagship. It isn't hard. ARM itself will do the design and TSMC will made them on actual silicon. They can use latest and greatest microarchitecture of CPU and GPU both, and againg latest and greatest manufacturing tech available.
You are asked for Snapdragon 855 competitor, but actually they could make a Snapdragon 865 competitor right now just like Huawei. Huawei pays ARM and TSMC to do that, they are not making Kirin chipsets alone with their expertise. It could be available at Q3, at least 6 months ahead of Qualcomm.
Mediatek offers usually cheaper chips than Qualcomm ones. In order to do that they are cutting some costs.
For example 12nm node means much cheaper to build compare to 8nm Snapdragon 730 all other things being equal of course. Also it means more power consumption.
It's OK for the price range. Despite they are presented it as a Snapdragon 730 competitor, it's rather a Snapdragon 675 competitor cost wise, but at the same time it probably comparable to Snapdragon 730 performance wise. The 730 probably will beat it at power consumption, but taking cost into account it wouldn't matter.
Problem is what kind of a phone you will build around this chip. Probably it will cost as a Snapdragon 675, but maybe just 10USD cheaper than Snapdragon 730.
You can put it in a Redmi Note 7 Pro for example, it will give fantastic experience for the price. Also you can put it in a Redmi K20 and you can make it 10USD cheaper. In that case it maybe not that attractive considering the superior reputation of the Snapdragon chips, battery life and sustainable performance. In order to make it more attractive you have to cut some other corners, more likely from display and cameras since storage and battery are actually dirt cheap you can't cut from RAM since 4GB is bare minimum for such a device.
Anonymous, 30 Jul 2019Kirin 810 is still the best.True.. The best mid SoC today.. The CPU is equally with SD845 with better RAM processing and efficiency but weaker GPU (tested on Antutu). Kirin 810 is positioned below next gen Kirin 9xx.

X30 is good...
Awesome if you compare to SD810...this one is a technical failure.
But Qualcomm manage to sell it...
gohelvishalp, 31 Jul 2019You can Google it mtk engineering mode As I see, you can't no longer do it that way...since Android 6.0, I think
It's still possible but you need Root and modify a file in NVRAM folder...
And modification isn't that easy.
Anonymous, 31 Jul 2019Why don't they make something on the level of sd855? they tried flagship chipsets last time and it failed miserably, they probably want to avoid flagship level chipsets aft that
(their Helio x30 10core chipset)
IpsDisplay, 30 Jul 2019Can you elaborate on this please? You can Google it mtk engineering mode
While this score is great, keep in mind that it packs those CPU and GPU punches on a rather disappointing 12nm process, which might ended up heating more often, thus offering less sustainable performance. I bet phones using this chip would score just north of 200k points of Antutu 7 due to its limitations
12nm and yet, more power? Lame. In reall world 730 is much better due to (Significantly) lower heat and consumption.
