Now, the question is: can this chip sustain this performance over time? Becauee one benchmark run is one thing, but several benchmark runs in a row is another thing entirely. There is also the fabrication process. 12nm is already outdated and it's not as efficiente as SD730's 8nm. Only price will decide if this trade-offs are worth it.
Next oppo F series would be using this P90/G90/G90t! Let's see the oppo shows!

W... moreRedmi Note line will have qualcomm chips as in India they want it with Snapdragons. Xiaomi know it well and that country is the best seller for that model. These chips will go for lower lines or Ulefone, Umidigi, Elephone, etc. Or some spin off BBK and local models for China.
Mediatek was SOLE reason Qualcomm made great chips at entire mid-range past couple of years. Without competition from Mediatek they WON'T provide such capable chips. Remember that CRAP Snapdragons such as 400 and 615?
Remember just recently Qualcomm found guilty of anticompetitive behavior by EU. Against chipmaker Icera they sold their chips BELOW COST. I have to wonder why Mediatek's biggest customer Xiaomi switched to Qualcomm for Redmi line. Also Xiaomi dropped their Surge chips quietly.
We always need competition.
Regarding this particular chip, IMO as always it will be cheaper than competing Qualcomm one, which means OEMs can build a budget phone around this chip.
Lets say for example Redmi Note 8 from 999 yuan (150USD) with this chip could be possible.
Vasra, 30 Jul 2019Wow, it even wins in Antutu GPU-sub-score over Snapdragon 730G (the gaming variant).
Let's ... moreRunning a benchmark inside the freezer is not something too valuable. But there will always be some unconditional applauding the result without even watch the graphics, the fps, the colour accuracy, the depth rendering and scenery, etc.
Anyways it'll perform well while you fry some eggs on the phone's rear cover before it ends burning.
Wow, it even wins in Antutu GPU-sub-score over Snapdragon 730G (the gaming variant).
Let's see how well it performs in sustained gaming performance over half an hour or more.
This seems like a good competitor. Let's hope they receive some source code as well.
Since when is good gaming chipset snap 730? If the g90 does the same range it won't be that good as it is in the commercial.
gohelvishalp, 30 Jul 2019What's the point of security in mediatek chipsets when i can change imei through ussd codesCan you elaborate on this please?
I've always liked Mediatek. Never the most powerful or most efficient but excellent value for money. Will be very interested in the phones these go in and what price they'll be.
Finaly someone wake up.
Soon we will see maybe Apple phones with Mediatek CPU.
As long as its made by TSMC it doesnt matter Mediatek or Bionic :-)
