AnonD-5950, 27 Feb 2012I understand your point here. You can read my previous comment. But some fanboy doesn't even ... moreIn that respect maybe Xperia S is for you. Not the same camera sensor/lens but way slimmer and looks quite ok too

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2012usual crappy phone camera pics (extreme noise, extremely low DR), with huge interpolation just... moreInterpolation is when you you create pixels that do not exist by examining surrounding pixels and estimating the value if this imaginary pixel.

This phones has more pixels than it needs and so averages groups of pixels to produce display pixels(for the output file/image). Its the opposite of interpolation.

            I agree it looks ugly.

It takes a 41 Mpx image, merge 7 pixels into one, and output an extremely clear 5 Mpx image. And thanks to the PureView technology, said image weights way less than a normal 5 Mpx image.

usual crappy phone camera pics (extreme noise, extremely low DR), with huge interpolation just to take more disk space, every cheap pocket camera would do better than this. and design is so ugly of that phone :)

Seriously people, for god's sake, STOP comparing this phone with DSLR cameras... Just look at the second picture, there are visible noise in the sky even if you downsize to 5Mp, and that because the ISO is 57 and there are some obviously noise reduction kicking, let alone in dark conditions with higher ISO. It certanly will be the most amazing cameraPHONE on the market, but no mater how good you think this phone will be, it will never comer close to the quality of a huge DSLR sensor. I'm NOT telling it should, the problem is that some people simply believe that they are comparable... So stop this, it's pathetic.

AnonD-43988, 27 Feb 2012What I am even more excited than the photos is the video recording. It will give you 4x 'optic... more"- It gives you over 90% photo quality compared to profession cameras."

                              You are kidding, right?
Don't get me wrong, but that's so much ignorance... just go to a store near you and try the most inexpensive DSLR, you don't even need to see large magnifications to understand how fool and pitiful such comments are...

O M G check out the quality and clarity of the two rock climbing photos AFTER zooming it. Try zooming in the distant panorama and see how much detail is revelaed. IT IS AMAZING.

41MP... to many consumers, even a good 5MP cameraphone is too much for posting on Facebook and what not. Other things to consider would be the time taken between shots, compression and imagine the DATA you need to save each photo. If the lens is no good, that 41MP is gonna expose all of that imperfections. Finally, how will the noise profile look like for low light shots? I use my iPhone as a day-to-day camera and I really think any cell phones can improve on is low-light image quality. However, the creative reasoning with having a high MP count cam would be flexibility in post-framing and cropping (which could be done before taking the photo, mind you). Although, if it all works out, this could really be a big breakthrough since the N95.

The pictures are amazing. I do love the details and colours. I think in some areas there is to much compression togh. But still. They are endeed amazin gregarding the fact that this is A PHONE.
