Anonymous, 02 Mar 2012Actually, pixel oversampling is nothing new, however what Nokia has done is made oversampling ... moreI too find it a little bit unsightly at first but somehow the design just grew on me. I loved the colours for a start. When you look closely its not really that bad. It's funky, in the spirit of the 5700 and the 5800. Loved the prominent shutter and volume buttons. And did I say I loved the colours :). Was thinking of getting an Xperia S. Have changed my mind and will definitely get one of these along with an Xperia P. Has to be a two box solution for me man. This is too good for me to ass up.
Anonymous, 02 Mar 2012admit it dude....symbian is the best as i can say in your statement below...how could you buy ... moreWhat i dont understand abt u symbian fanboys is why do u say things like'u r jelous' n'ur a fandroid/symbian hater' n 'admit it' when asked y u consider it above the other platforms? It only displays ur lack of any solid evidence for supporting symbian. M nt sayin symbian's pathetic. Its a pretty basic platform n only packed wid the essentials. But if sum1 luks for only the essentials den y wud he/she bother buyin a smart phone? It is meant to b used to provide njoyment which symbian doesnt deliver as much as the other platforms. If u really think its smarter than other platforms, then state exactly wat makes it smarter rather than goin on baging over the same thing again n again without any solid base.
Anonymous, 02 Mar 2012admit it dude....symbian is the best as i can say in your statement below...how could you buy ... moreI've bought Nokia devices when they were the best. The N91 with it's superb audio capabilities and one of the few devices to have such huge storage at the time, the N95(not the 8GB) when it's camera was just phenomenal at the time, the E71, and E71x due to it's awesome qwerty and I actually liked Nokia mail as an alternative to Microsoft Exchange, the C7 I got for free so I couldn't complain, the N900 I bought with hopes that it would be the "iphone killer". However if you noticed I didn't purchase anymore high end Nokia devices, Nokia was once considered the bar when it came to smart phones, not true anymore, they don't even get mentions or comparisons. I've moved onto better devices, I have a Sensation, a Galaxy S II, G2x. All of these fits my needs much more. So again, what point of view are you coming from when you claim Nokia Symbian as the best mobile OS? Are you an authoritative figure in the mobile industry? I think not.
To all of Nokia&Symbian haters, open your eyes and admit it, this cameraphone is the best, int tech term, but not in design (too big for me :))
p.s I'm Android and WP7 user
As somebody who has been a symbian fanboy for years (let's just say it works for me), I'm very happy that nokia came up with 808 PureView. Good thing it doesn't have android on it. Android is just too complicated for me. Gonna buy it for sure!
Buying this nokia 808 is like buying two devices: Hi-end Smartphone and Digital Camera. (bow)
I considered my N8 superior than most point and shoot cameras (medium and low range). Even I considered it more practical than high end point and shoot because I always carried it on... But it lacked the zoom ... Well, finally that have come with a solution, and oh boy what a solution.
Nokia has done a great job this time, a smartphone with a high end camera even cheaper than the smartphone competitors and camera competitors. What a deal.
Finally I have a real choice to upgrade from my n8.
Anonymous, 02 Mar 2012Oh but I have used Symbian, I've used N91, N95, N80, E71, E71x, the x was a little bit better ... moreadmit it dude....symbian is the best as i can say in your statement below...how could you buy some nokia phones if it s not... its just that nokia was delayed in developing symbian OS to produce touchscren phones but we could not say that it is not the best for being just delayed. Symbian itself being symbian is better compare to android...symbian is smarter and better...compare it. symbian simply outshines android wherever you look at it.
i tried android but never want another one .i lyk nokia in term of hardware durability and os ..maybe their outdated now but as they said "this is just the beginning. There’s lot more to come." im waiting for my new SYMBIAN SMARTFON from you nokia...!!!
Anonymous, 02 Mar 2012so you want us to say that android is the best? how could we say it when people realize that i... moreOh but I have used Symbian, I've used N91, N95, N80, E71, E71x, the x was a little bit better than the E71 as it had a nice matted finished and it didn't have dust leak issues like my e71 had. I've also owned an N900 for a short while before selling it, and I've used the Nokia Astoun(C7) for a short while as well. Again, my question remains, you claim Symbian OS is the best based on what standing point? So everyone who owns a smartphone blog is now automatically labeled a fandroid now? I find it funny how everyone must be a fandroid, even GSMarena. Gsmarena won't compare any symbian based device to an android device anymore because then they'd either have to lie and say that Symbian is just as good as Android(we both know this isn't true) or tell the truth and hurt fanboys like you. Sales figures, market share, and reviews all point the same. Before you fanboys would cry about battery life, now its been experimentally proven that the N8, lumia 800, and Lumia 710 have both shorter battery life when being used such as 3G Cellular web browsing, and 3G cellular calling compared to higher end devices like Droid Razr(Not the maxx), Droid Nexus, HTC sensation, Galaxy S II, etc even though all these android devices use a larger screen, has more powerful processors, sports a higher resolution, and are more actively using push data like instant social network notification. Then you claim that people only use android because their app market is filled with free apps, even though the same apps can be found on WP7 market place, and studies shown that Android apps are in general more expensive, Android app market also eclipse itunes app market in downloads in every country except the US.
So again, now that you know my past history with Symbian what are you to say that Android is not better than Symbian?
nokia 808 pureview design is incredible! I keep looking at it...lovable! my whole family love this and i gonna buy them all this.
Anonymous, 01 Mar 2012lets be frank....41mp is pointless if a camera needs tht much mega pixels to take gud pictures... moreLet's be frank:
You really don't know what you're talking about or you do and are being disingenuous.
As somebody who was involved very early on with imaging, a consumer device that does what this does at the price it does it is a big deal.
We can argue the merits of the phone but the imaging approach for the reasons they did it have been validated in other circles for years.
Thats my new Phone/Camera!!! :)
808 PureView just rocks!!!!!
Anonymous, 02 Mar 2012Symbian is the best mobile OS based on what claim? Market share? Smartphone blog reviews? Phon... moreso you want us to say that android is the best? how could we say it when people realize that it is indeed is better than android and ios...let your fandroids tell that in your blog that your phones is the best... lolz...i wonder how could u say it is not the best os when you dont even use symbian...lolz
sammi giggs, 01 Mar 2012you realy are smthing, y dont you get it hater? Symbian remains the the best os for mobile fon... moreSymbian is the best mobile OS based on what claim? Market share? Smartphone blog reviews? Phones sold? All of these seem to indicate the opposite. What you should have said was "Symbian is the best Mobile OS for me." which would make your statement true. Symbian is far from the best, that's why their market share shrinks at an alarming rate, and no, this isn't because Nokia is moving to Microsoft Windows Phone 7, the shrink in market share is several hundred times more than the increase for WP7. Symbian Belle and Carla looks even more like Android and iOS with the Notification bar.
Sikorsky, 01 Mar 2012Why should they? Belle is alot better than some buggy, slow animalike Android. I have had 2 An... moreThe device won in reference w/ imaging not the OS. for that one, this Android Fanboy is all hands down to Nokia on that part. 41meg is really a monster.
Anonymous, 01 Mar 2012@Anonymous Read what the PureView technology is about before blurting out baseless comments. I... moreActually, pixel oversampling is nothing new, however what Nokia has done is made oversampling to compensate for the every day person. What the pureview does is uses a much larger image sensor(41mp) and it takes a regular image and condenses pixels into regular everyday 5MP size image. This allows for greater detail when zoomed in because there are more pixels in that same size photograph than before, this basically allows anyone with the pureview 808 to take "good" pictures in average picture conditions.
Now, I won't take away that Nokia won the award, however I must quote on the reason for winning the device. He basically states they won the device due to user experience, how is it due to user experience when no one's got an in depth use of the device yet? It merely won because it stood out from the rest of the devices shown at MWC which is all quad cores, the Pureview 808 is freaking hideous, but that's expected since the sensor is so huge, none of the other MWC devices really stood out.
what should i say? fantastic! this device is really an award-winning since i first saw this... I knew I would want one.
