If I recall correctly, OnePlus was created by the former head of Oppo to try his hand to create the flagship killer because >$400 for a phone was unrealistically expensive that time.

Pricing is spot on for the base variant.

If they didn't even provide any update for such a costly phone, there is no doubt that no update will ever come for a phone at half the price. No brand in the world right now skips updating their thousand dollar phone.
As for OnePlus 2 and X, it was a very small company back then. Just 1 year old. And still provided 1 update at least and security patches. And the phones also costed just 18/20k.
Where does Asus stand in front of that? A thousand dollar phone never received any update. It's a matter of extreme shame.

Sad that RoG Phone 1 is ZenUI 5 which is also notorious for bloat which means no updates due to how difficult to code compatibilities for their bloatware.

2. Mind asking about oneplus to owners of oneplus 2 or oneplus x?

K20 Pro is a good phone, but there is nothing specifically "gamer" about it. Lots of MIUI haters among gamers. Plus, the ads are annoying(when it was launched, I guess there is a way to turn them off now).
ROG Phone 2 at this price point is a much greater threat. 120Hz AMOLED display is noticeably faster than 90Hz and is preferred over outright screen resolution by any serious gamer.
6000 Mah Battery is a BOON for gamers.
Front-firing DTS-X stereo speakers are the loudest among any smartphone in the past few years!
The headphone jack is MUST for gamers, who can't afford to have battery issues on their Bluetooth device / don't want sound delay just because they don't want to buy the highest-end Bluetooth headphones. A slight delay while listening to songs is ok. In an intense game, it can mean life or death.
Air Triggers are a god-send for games like PUBG and other FPS games. You almost don't need a joystick now.
The touch polling rate of 240Hz is matched only by iPhone XS, a phone that costs almost thrice the price. Expect super-fluid touch response. Also, 1ms response time is only in Blackshark and ROG phone 2.
Frankly, even though I am not a super serious gamer, I would buy this phone over OP7 in a heartbeat. The bigger battery, ultra-wide camera and 120Hz display which affects all aspects of mobile are worth it.
The best part: The price! It's amazing!

Price itself is very, very competitive, but the accessories are a bit on the higher side.
Especially that Kunai gamepad, 10000 INR, ouch!
(BTW, I would definitely choose to buy the Kunai gamepad among all the accessories, but the phone is very good as it is).

OnePlus is considered a premium brand now. Many people buy simply for that. Not the case with Asus. Also looks too busy.
