Ideally, it should be possible to use a phone with one hand, just like a ordinary featurephone. This implies that for practical one handed operation for a normal person, the screen should not be larger than 60 mm in WIDTH. For a standard 3:4 profile, this limits practical one handed operation to about 4 inches. For other profiles, such as 16:9 widescreen or more, the size can be bigger. It is a matter of width, not diagonal size.
Ive had galaxy tab, changed it for galaxy note, came back to tab just for 7 inches of screen. Fits my pocket. Love screen sizes more the 5 inches and not bigger than 7.
I went into a mobile phone shop yesterday and looked at the new Sony Xperia S. This 4.3" screen size would be quite nice but the bezel is too big overall and the bottom of the phone just seems unnecessarily long. The back is just a great big hunk of black plastic and this was a deal breaker for me. I compared it side by side to the SG2 and that seems smaller, sleeker and more attractive. In conclusion, screen size 4.3" is ideal for me but only if the overall size of the phone is not too big.
I really dont know why a hundred billion company only capable product 1 unique screen size for iphones. Izzit being consistent or lazy, i really dont know. As a user, we dont even have a choice of screen size, and all the dudes still queue up waiting it to launch. I really feel something wrong there.
First i thought 4.3" on my HD2 would be crazy. but after those two years with it, i want even more now.
i used the Sensation XL a bit, with its 4.7" screen, and thats just perfect.
can't wait for the One X ;)
the size of your palm of your hands, your fingers and your gender have now got to the point where they mean nothing at all, if one is into smartphone, I think the bigger the better, I see many girls here Korea using Galaxy Note
according to me the ideal size is 4.2 inch and 4.5 inch is more than enough. the screen between 3.2 to 3.5 inch is useless bcoz everybody wants to use a bigger touch screen
AnonD-1035, 15 Mar 2012Most people are complaining the screen size of their smartphones aren't big enough. Well, I su... more"To me, 3.5-inch is OK, and screen size up to 3.7-inch would be nice."
Dude whom r u kidding u are dying to have a bigger screen phone. And u must be praying hard "Let the next iPhone have bigger screen so that i will go and stand in a queue". U are miserably unhappy about ur current phone.
Anonymous, 16 Mar 2012It's not the size! It's how you use it lol. I wouldn't mind a 4 inch iPhone tho. That woul... more"I wont mind 4inch iPhone" I'm sure u are unhappy with ur iPhone. I'm sure 90% iPhone users want bigger screen but still they don't stop bragging it's the best.
was the study for humans or dinasors?! phones should be suitbale for people.we should attention the measurement of humans!
4 is big screen for a phone.if u want a phone then 3.2 is the best size.
Although i own a Galaxy S2 and a Galaxy Nexus i still prefer something between 3.7 ~ 4inch. I also like the iphone 3.5inch Screen.
i prefer a wide screen with good resolution and dpi and a very good ram and processor to complement it dat my kinda phone nokia lumia and n8,9, x7 aint bad i think
I think 4.3 inches would be ideal screen size. It's a good balance between comfortability and pocketability.
I'm a guy (obviously =), and my previous phone SII felt a bit too wide for me.
So i changed to 4" Nexus S to date, and feel this is perfect size.
Unfortunately, all new HTC phones one X, S, and V not ONE fits my taste.. XD
What matters the most is usability of phone and not the size. It depends upon people preference, I prefer using any phone with one hand. I find it some what difficult to use 4" phone, 3.5" seems to be perfect. Well, as mentioned before it's a matter of individual preference.

do you live in the 19th century dude?
Time and needs changes the meaning of some things.
... morehey....Leave him alone
He maybe a(80-180) years old so he is talking about his needs from phones (despite that my 82 years old grandmother is using Galaxy s2, and the most thing she like about is the large screen it have!!!!!!!!!)
i have the galaxy nexus and it has a 4.65 inch display. I LOVE it..... but I frequently find my self using the phone with two hands or maybe using it with one hand but being afraid of dropping it on my hard high school concrete. I have long fingers too. But its a good sacrifice. I still think 4.5 inchs is as big as it should get
