Also, Spotify is not available everywhere in the world. And bluetooth headphones have their own shortcomings. Plus, it sucks to depend on LTE and data to have your music and/or pics.
Google Pixel might offer good experience, but it is terrible hardware for the price.

Different people have different needs. What's best for you, isn't necessarily meant to be universal.

Life is shades of grey. Not everyone is born in a first world country. Not everyone is born to a rich dad.

Google is trying to get some share of premium iPhone users. In fact their Pixel lineup is just to feed that rich peeps of the Android and anti-iPhone community who are dumb in specs. They're still an ad company, do I need to remind that every time. They don't care if their Pixel line fails or profits. That's why they hardly listen their customers. It's just made from left over profits. The engineers are trying hard. Credits to them, but not Google.

Specs do matter when you're buying an Android phone. Especially if you're a middle class person in a developing country. Needs change from person to person, but its better to safeguard or increase the value of your phone by shelling some extra cash for more storage/ram. Again, if you're an iPhone user, it doesn't matter. But, for Android it does.
I'm justly using a 2015 device with 2 gb ram. I see 2gigs is barely enough these days. Somehow, it doesn't affect, because my needs are not high. It gets my job done. But I should have shell some more, cause there was a 3gb version too.

I'm an engineer in a famous cloud company. I still have micro-sd loaded with mp3s. Having cloud doesn't necessarily mean eliminating SD cards. The same goes with headphone jack.

I'd have accepted your comment, if the world was so perfect, like a straight line, where everyone has enough per capita to live beautifully. But it isn't. Life is shades of grey. Your grey is different from mine.
Peace.
AverageUser, 10 Nov 2019Well, I paid my S10e 450€ and it slaughters Pixel 4 feature-wise.
You might argue that Pixe... moreyou don't need more than 6Gb. you only need more to win youtube tests to open 100 apps same time 2x times. In real life you don't. only chinese companies that have no better to offer than specs do that..and samsung too not lose sales because people like you care about paper sheets not real life experience. google is not competing to n.1 sells.., my htc u11 had 4Gb and in 2 years never needed more than 3gb. only kids or clueless people look at specs sheets..i guess your are one of them.
wireless power share really?
finger print scanner is 2019?
crying still about headphone jack in 2019? my Beo play E8 say hi. you should try.
sd card in 2019? do you know what a cloud is or a NAS? mine have 19Tb do you really think I care about smartphone memory? i've 88 apps installed and for spotify you dont need space. my device, still 32Gb left even with 11Tb of music to offline listening.
All rest i use my cloud or google drive cloud.
samsung dont have 4 years critical updates and usually is months behind in major updates. don't have 90hz and don't have a better camera. that hole in the screen ruins any experience also.
the only thing samsung have better is the battery, that i can't argue, rest depends person per person and my case, all points in favor of the samsung (2017 specs) i prefered the pixel. hope you enjoy yours like i enjoy the pixel.

AverageUser, 10 Nov 2019Battery life is poor, and 64GB of storage is just laughable, the Galaxy Note 8 has 64GB of st... moreIt learns behaviour. And you get much more life. Another review did a second review as his battery more than Doubled what he initially got after two weeks.
Battery life is poor, and 64GB of storage is just laughable, the Galaxy Note 8 has 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, but unlike Pixel, you could also buy a 256GB model. It also has the same camera modules, standard one and telephoto.
Note8 also had:
SD slot
Headphone jack
Fingerprint scanner
Smaller bezels
Better selfie camera video resolution
S-pen
And somehow better battery life, with a smaller battery...
To add insult to the injury, the Note 8 was launched in 2017. meaning that Google is now kinda matching Samsung's 2017 flagship. Considering that I can still buy a brand new Note8 for 450€ (old stock) I'd probably opt for that before I'd pay double 900€ for the Pixel... and Note8
So, Google is selling 2017. hardware in 2019. for almoust double the price of their competitors who actually offer more (Xiaomi, OnePlus, Samsung, Huawei...) and people still buy it...
acemang, 10 Nov 2019iphone 11 here in Portugal costs 829€.
I bought my Pixel 4 for 680€.
And you can't compare... moreWell, I paid my S10e 450€ and it slaughters Pixel 4 feature-wise.
You might argue that Pixel has better camera for example, but when it comes to storage, RAM, wireless power share, fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, SD slot... well Pixel loses this one badly.
It might be better option than an iPhone, depending on where you live, but hardware-wise it's not so wise when compared to other Adroid phones.

Well, sorry to break it to you, but there is the Galaxy S10e, with bigger storage, more RAM, expandable memory, headphone jack and even a bigger battery.
It's also cheaper...
Peachy001, 10 Nov 2019Saw a review online recently, the guy got a few hours SOT. I nearly fell out of my chair. He d... morewell, he have a point. we should not spend our preciose time always in our phone.
Average right now is about 4hours/day so the pixel 4 is more than enough. I'm getting 5 to 6 hours with normal use, but with some corners cuted in system preferences. I'm not an average guy because I create apps for a living so I will spend more time testing my apps and seeing other similar apps to improve mines. Youtubers also spend more time on their phones..it's their job...so crying about the pixel battery is normal. For the average people it will not be a problem at all. Also is to commend google trying to make something to "save" our planet. huge batteries in smartphones that we dont really need will deploy row materials that will end sooner that we thought. for the consumer point of view it sucks...china don't care about the planet, we all know that (america also, btw) it's good to know that there are companies that are actually doing something about it. google have a very bad marketing department, that's why their reviews are so bad. if they transmited well the message, it could be a win phone, but comparing specs by specs only, they lose bad. life is not about specs are about experiences, and that is what google try to accomplish, but with poor RM.

MrPhone, 10 Nov 2019Do not compare Pixel 4 with iP 11 Pro, instead compare with the standard model
The standard... moreiphone 11 here in Portugal costs 829€.
I bought my Pixel 4 for 680€.
And you can't compare devices only for it's price. you need to compare devices for what it offers and what you want from them to do and then you can compare the price...if you primer factor is the price...neither an iphone or a pixel is your thing...stick to xiaomi, they are the best bang for buck.
And I guess you didn't read the part of the form factor thing.
The first thing I do when I buy a phone is to check it size. If its to large I discard it.
More than 70 cm width Its more difficult to work with one hand, It needs to be closer to that number. The iphone 11 pro is the only one near that number and the pixel 4 is lower that number.
Not too mention the weight, the more confortable to carry all day will be the pixel 4 from the 3.
This things i care about alot, more than what phone hits the top 3 speed chart, or who's faster to open an app, or if it bends, or if it burns.
Reviews focus on comparing dic*s, I focus on comparing things that will facility day to day use. all flagships tick all boxes right now so why bother see whos faster 0.001s? or who bends with a nor real life situation?

I also think that the processor of HTC U11 SD835, is amazing. It's fast like the newer generation and the need to upgrade is not huge.
I hope I can last one more year before I go to a SD875 by skipping the 2020 SD865 hoping that 4 generations ahead will worth the upgrade and at the same time making most of my phone's worth.
Guys will support me: Pixel 4 camera and video tools add gsmarena!
I have had the nexus, pixel 1 and pixel 3. This time I opted for the oneplus 7pro. I can't bring myself to pay some 300 more for phone with less ram, less storage and a poorer battery.
Great video review GSMArena. Thank you!
Motion sensor? Rubbish gimmick
Live wallpaper is just crap
Almost no one wants a plasticky phone with subpar hardware and quality for a price this high
Also the bezels are thicker than the Samsung S9 and matches the iPhone XR or worse.
iPhone 11, S10, OnePlus 7 Pro, Reno 2 (10x zoom), P30, etc. are way better than this Booble trash. Privacy? Ahahahah
Being different is not necessarily better
No need for an iPhone 11 Pro, even the standard model is already better than the rubbish Pixel but the LCD screen.
Or, you can try a S10, OnePlus 7 Pro, or Huawei P30 (if you can ignore Google)
