what are you doing nokia! fire people in china not finland. you are no different from any other chinese crap company now.
milindian, 23 Mar 2012Next person to lose job at Nokia might be Mr. Elop.Axing Mr.Elop will maximize the production efficiency.
Cutting down on jobs is not a pottential solution. If they are not being able to manage so they shut their whole setup not just few jobs. Unexpected from once the market leader NOKIA.
Anyways good luck
EUrope is dead!!
how can you get free uenmployment benefits, free healthcare, free baby care, free money, free house, free everything, and work only 35 h a week or stay at home all day and get money from the government!!!
EUrope is DEAD!no money left, companies leaving as fast they can,....
im nobody´s fa, 22 Mar 2012Apple or HTC... will you please buy Nokia? They are so messed up with Microsoft. Nokia will ev... morePlease samsung , apple, htc, chin please buy nokia ?????????????????????/
Mr steven elopp - a great company is not always built around a rational approach but also through emotion.
even a 2 years old baby will be a better CEO than elop, seriously. At least a baby couldn't write memos
and it's true . finally the plan is working. apple and others secretly hired that Trojan Elop to bring down nokia from its top position in smartphone world.. and he already fired too many from the job.. and splitting the company to pieces and bring it to it's knees.good work Elop u better be stayed in that Microsoft and let Nokia be Nokia.. what a tragedy.. once ruler of the smartphone world now doomed to use that godforsaken windows platform. unlike elop told. they should have stayed with that burning platform.. now elop will answer that question which one is that real Burning Platform Windows or Symbian. Atleast they should have moved forward with that MEEGO thing(N9 Outsold 3 times more than that stinky iphone Copied Lumias). Im still a Nokia FanBoy and still fancy if they have made that good old Symbian s60 non touch smartphones, its way better than any non touch smartphone now out there. old s60 meant real business , good battery life lot productive app support. oh that old nokia E72 still rocks in non touch race...
As much as I Loathe Nokia for the MeeGo debacle, I dislike hearing about people losing their jobs. Hopefully these people can get employed elsewhere soon.
Nokia is cutting jobs seems quite logical after choosing the WP7 as next OS. who would pay a staff which in trained in symbian and the with much higher product activity level than they are currently producing.
TC, 23 Mar 2012With WP7 Nokia need Microsofts permission to do anything, they still have not been allowed to ... moreAgreed and what makes it even more patehetic is that Flop says he did not want to go with Android, as they would not be unique and stand out from the crowd. Like they do now??!! They are more tied to the whims of MS than ever. So what is the differene in the end result. Apart from the poor staff that will shortly lose thier jobs of course! All so Flop could prove a point. I am sure those who are going to be losing their jobs will be so thankful to him.
It is hard to see Nokia go die like that.People don't follow what Nokia devices are capable of doing if they know how to use it well.I hate all other brands that had recently come up due to advertisements.people don't realize what depth researches Nokia has been to, to produce phones of great quality.Bye Nokia but not windows based.
J-lou, 22 Mar 2012As a Finn I'm a bit biased to comment but its quite a big loss to all Finns in such a small co... moreWith WP7 Nokia need Microsofts permission to do anything, they still have not been allowed to even customize the user-interface by adding the popular good looking Harmattan skin...! Nokia is now just another WP7 phone, because WP7 phones from HTC and Samsung and... are identical, identical, to the Nokia WP7, not even any custom user-interface at all, and even Nokia Drive... have all been hacked an can be used on any Samsung... WP7! WP7 can still not do as much as Android or Symbian, and apps and games for WP7 are more expensive than the same apps are in iStore and Google Play!
Now that they have teamed with Microsoft Nokia have forever lost their freedom and independence, because it is Microsoft that demand that Nokia abandon Symbian and MeeGo, and Nokia will probably never ever be allowed to use, change to, any other OS than what is made by Microsoft! Nokia lost their "soul" when they took the money that Microsoft gave them when they decided for WP7!
(Nokia would not have to spend a lot of resources on creating a store if they had choosen Android, and they could have supported development of MeeGo so that it could use Android apps and games! And with Android Nokia could easily have added their Harmattan skin, and they could easily give Nokia Maps free only for Nokia customers, just as HTC give a free navigation software to tveir customers, and with Android Nokia would still be allowed to develop Symbian and MeeGo...!)
Exotic, 22 Mar 2012I have different phones made by different companies and as for as hardware is concerned, Nokia... moreHow can you like the Lumia 800 for hardware superiority!? Am I reading right ?
I know that product perception is paramount but you're writing on a website that test phones and Lumia 800 didn't exactly shine in those regards: low brightness screen, camera not top notch, poor audio.
I mean if you are approaching Nokia from a Huawei or a HTC it well may be an improvement but being a long time Symbian user or a tech geek on Samsung Galaxy (ster)Droids... it is remarkably unimpressive.
