Disappointing. I was expecting a reasonably priced 5G phone without holes, drops or notch from Xiaomi. Like a K20(pro) but with 5G.
5G is nice for future proofing, yes, but when the time arrives where 5G is as widespread as 4G right now, we are probably going to use K40 or maybe even K50. I know that we need to start somewhere, but I don't think next year is the correct time. Also as far as future proofing goes, when 5G becomes widespread, the 5G in K30 probably would be not as good as the newer ones, same as the first implementation of 3G and 4G.
For the front camera, I prefer the pop up camera since I rarely use it. Also I don't really like the use of 2 front camera. It is probably for a normal and wide cam, but I would prefer they just use the wide cam and use better sensor for it, or save the money for better rear cameras.
On the subject of rear cameras, please put OIS, at least on the main cam (and preferably the tele cam). I currently using 9T (from Mi6) and I really miss the OIS on Mi6.
My ideal spec for the K30 is to keep the form factor of K20 and simply upgrade the parts, with OIS being the main thing to be added. I don't mind they use a punch hole camera, but keep it to a single camera and hopefully by making it a single front cam and no 5G (and without motorized pop up cam), there will be enough money to have OIS for the main and tele cam.
Also please have an option for 256GB storage for the non pro version.
Anyway, the spec for K30 is probably already finalized, so whatever I say won't matter. But if they keep the price (as in K30 will cost the same as when K20 launched) and they added OIS + 256GB option, I probably will buy that phone and sell my 9T. Without OIS, I will stick to my 9T. Or if other brand has a phone in the same price bracket with similar spec as K20 but with OIS and 256GB option and NFC (important! I really need NFC), then that will be my next phone.
Baykko, 17 Nov 2019Except that it will take like 5 more years for the 5G network to be spread out the same way 4G... moreFor us in the west, yes, 5G is still a few years away from being decently utilized. But in the east, Japan, South Korea, China, they are already using 5G and getting better coverage pretty fast.
But most importantly, creating phones with 5G modem and us buying them shows service providers that we want it, which forces them to upgrade, otherwise others will get their clients. One tech pushing other to adapt. Sure, it takes time, but there has to be a start somewhere. And it is now.
9T Pro looks miles better than this lazy punch hole design.
I really like K20 pro as it has no notch or punch hole but K30 with punch hole is a let down.
Pabliell, 16 Nov 2019Absolutely not! No one wants higher internet speed with lower latency. Except that it will take like 5 more years for the 5G network to be spread out the same way 4G is. Heck given the high frequency bands 5G uses it might take 10 gears for it to have enough penetration to be viable inside a building
Thats dead design. Holes and notches will die in 2020
Adul Al Salami Kebab, 16 Nov 20195G is even worth it? :S It is nice to be futureproof. When 5g is widely available it will be internet heaven...
Hole in the screen? You lost Xiaomi.

Holes notches i am not impressed at all.
Punch hole camera ?. Another mid ranger got wasted due to punch hole and that too with a 5G support, what a shame.....
