Anonymous, 21 Nov 2019Sleep tracking is more about movement, it doesn't use HR. When you sleep you move very gently... morehow is the band distinguish between normal sleep and deep sleep then?

Huh? I don't get where's the market for such thing? I mean the regular Mi Band 3 costs 17€ in my country and the Mi Band 4 costs just 5€ over the Mi Band 3. Why would anyone buy that thing? This will only cannibalize on Mi Band 3's and Mi Band 4's sales.

Tonberry, 21 Nov 2019That sounds like a very inaccurate sleep tracking. Do you know if there are any smartbands tha... moreI don't recognize his description.

I've had the Mi Band 3 for some time and now I've had the Mi Band 4 a few months. I sit at my desk at work all day long, not moving much at all and some days not leaving my seat for the whole day more than once or twice.

I get "Idle alerts", that I've activated, telling me to get up and move about to avoid neck and/or back problems etc, but not registering as a sleep. Not even if I ignore them and get 5 alerts during some of my workdays.

Same thing when sitting in the sofa at night for hours and hours. Wether it's in the evening in weekdays or anytime during the weekend. It does not register as sleeping, unless I fall asleep. Not sure how it knows to be honest, because I move quite a bit in my sleep.

When my son wakes me in the middle of the night, even just for a few minutes and then back to sleep, it gets registered. Tonight in example at about 4.30 am I was awake for 9 minutes before I fell asleep again according to my sleep tracker, and that seems about right to me :-)

Anonymous, 21 Nov 2019Is this even necessary? Mi Band 4 Chinese version is just $25 in my country, 7 bucks cheaper i... moreThat makes your Mi Band 4 almost 40% more expensive in your market. Small difference i USD for many of us, but enough to keep some from affording it.

In Mi Shop in India the Mi Band 4 costs about $32. I don't know if affected by any customs tariffs making it this much more expensive in India. That makes it about 78% more expensive than the 3i. The standard Mi Band 3 costs equivalent to USD 25 in Mi Store in India. Same as Mi Band 4 in your market.

unic, 21 Nov 2019What is the difference between Mi band 3i and Mi band hrx (other than slightly different design)Compared to the HRX the 3i has:
                Bigger screen
                Bigger Battery
                More recent Bluetooth 4.2

Wha... moreSleep tracking is more about movement, it doesn't use HR. When you sleep you move very gently compared to if you're awake - for example if I'm sitting at my computer studying something carefully, my band sometimes thinks I'm taking a nap, because I haven't moved a lot for a long time.

I have a Huawei band, and I turned off the constant HR sensor, it's pretty meaningless unless you're doing exercise, at which point the HR comes on itself while it detects the exercise. Even then, it's not very accurate unless the band is very tightly on your arm. Which makes it uncomfortably tight when exercising.

So, really, the HR sensor is pretty pointless. Unless it's a super-duper one like you'd get on an Apple Watch.
