None as they are all essentially flawed: once you drop 'em there's a very high chance they'll die.

Even the bend over laptop types that can also act as tablets, can close to protect the screen.

SURE in some unknown future some unknown screen technology might remove that as an issue, but untill then: Protect the screen.

Kangal, 24 Nov 2019I agree, if the glass technology isn't ready yet... then the whole concept isn't ready yet. T... more20 seconds. 20 seconds after you posted it, there's already +1 rating. That's normally impossible unless you have a 2nd account to help boost your ratings.

Well, you do you. I exposed you once and after that, I don't wanna bother again.

This applies to the hinge mechanism as well.

Thankfully the hinge works great on the outward design, and decent with the inward design. But it looks like plastic screen isn't ready yet. Nor is the lack of waterproofing / ingress protection.

The obvious thing is missing on the list:
*** Z-shaped double fold ***
That could give us a roughly 16:9 device both closed and opened.

Motorola and Huawei did the best deign so far. Huawei you have a normal phone and a tablet not like idiots at Samsung that did a toy phone and a tablet even if as a tablet Samsung has better features, and Motorola portable and fun! But all of them got the price wrong :))))))))

Inward fold is probably the stupidest and most pointless design. Stop voting for it just cause you feel the current glass tech isn't optimal!

Results are so much different than last time this poll was asked. I guess people had high hopes from the Galaxy Fold, and the actual device turned out very disappointing.

The Razr is far more appealing in comparison.

After having seen the new Razr, clamshell all the way. My Mate 9 can live until such time that I can get a "new Razr"-like device, even if it takes another 2-3 years.

Clamshell allows the phone to be compact in size since the width remains the same despite the different height when folded or unfolded.

Yes, both inward and outward foldable can be useful if you want to use it as a tablet, but would I do that? No, I'll get myself a legit tablet in the first place.

I don't get why clamshell is so popular, it doesn't make any sense, it makes smaller what already fits into the pocket, while other options aim fitting an almost-tablet into the pocket.

Clamshell is my option. It folds into compact and that is more important for me. I'm going to observe further development of this style
