The Man, 29 Mar 2012If you want to talk about Sony they are obligate to update their phones because they released... moreI personally don't care about ICS even if that was one of the 5 reasons which made be buy it (price, size, decent speed, decent screen, OS).
I bought this one for special purposes, aside with my GS1 and GS2 which i bought both on release time, so keep your GS history, been there too since the beginning but i had to comment on your stupid ram reason.
Let's not even start with CPU speed, Google has admitted before ICS release that 1ghz+ wasn't a necessity to run it. It's an all made up rumor from blogs/forums.
A good hardware can run any good OS, it only depends on specifics which aren't necessarily known to US public.
There are cheap tablets less powerful than a DesireHD which come with ICS on them.
The Man, 29 Mar 2012If you want to talk about Sony they are obligate to update their phones because they released... moreMy HTC Desire/Bravo has less than 512RAM and with 1ghz CPU. I'm running ICS smoothly.
many fons out there with same specs..with ics..damn samsung.they want us to taste ics and lead us to buy another fon in the end..vry nice strategy..!shame on you samsung..!!!
Anonymous, 29 Mar 2012Just bought a SE Xperia Ray, it only has 512Mb ram. Oh, and it should be updated to ICS in Ap... moreIf you want to talk about Sony they are obligate to update their phones because they released them late 4/2011 while Galaxy S released on 5/2010 so its 2 years old while SE is 1 year old they have to update it! Galaxy S been updated 3 times 2.1>2.2>2.3>Value pack, while SE they still didn't update to ICS still on "2.3" and i can guarantee you ICS will ruin Galaxy S and any device on 512MB RAM + less than 1.2 GHZ CPU that's for sure
The Man, 29 Mar 2012Friend of mine has Galaxy S he installed Nexus S ICS ROM on it of course by CWM not Odin i thi... moreWe don't know for sure if an official rom would drain the battery also on a GS1. But you are damn right, ppl (over forums/blogs) just want to update their phone to keep bragging they have the latest version of it or for their selfesteem.. As long as my phones run fine, or i know i get several more interesting features.. but it's only my point.
Hakan, 29 Mar 2012Why do you smartheads comment this if you dont know the diffrence between DesireHDs 768mb ram ... moreJust bought a SE Xperia Ray, it only has 512Mb ram. Oh, and it should be updated to ICS in April according to SE.
So Ram isn't a valid reason, and it's not the first time, neither the last time it will be said.
How is it possible that Cyanogen and XDA Developers can put ICS on X10 mini pro with a 600mhz processor, and samsung can`t on its 1000mhz phone witch was their flagship model, not so long ago.
Will Samsung Galaxy Ace be recieving the value pack or shud i just root it?
Friend of mine has Galaxy S he installed Nexus S ICS ROM on it of course by CWM not Odin i think its cooked to be fitted on Galaxy S because it has Flash option and Galaxy S doesn't anyway the ROM drains battery very fast less than 5 Hours and its not that fast in Quadrant and there are several apps don't fit ICS yet.
My point is why would you want ICS if its not fast and battery drains faster than usual and apps incompatibility?
I guess Gingerbread with ICS features is much better...
Huge fail by Samsung...
Thanks god for XDA Developers. And all hail ICS CM9!

I still prefer the Galaxy S Advance: http://gadgetimate.com/what-do-you-think-about-the-samsung-galaxy-s-advance/
Anonymous, 29 Mar 2012For which device sony updated firmware to ICS till date? Could you please tell me?Well, alot of them are getting the update In a while, what abt Samsung? They rolled out fast becos the does not have the ability to edit the rom isn't it? For Sony, the edited to whole rom to suit what their customers want and so it is slower but more stable, u can always see Samsung service shop full becos their rom always have problem but Sony service centre doesn't seem crowded. At least Sony did not take back their words like samsung=) all Samsung knows how to do is install the stupid touch_wiz.apk launcher in the phone
Why do you smartheads comment this if you dont know the diffrence between DesireHDs 768mb ram and the Galaxy s 512mb ram?????? Thats why no ICS and it doesent matter when the unit are released.. Gahhhh
AnonD-48375, 29 Mar 2012As an Galaxy S owner, Samsung look like a traitor to me. See what Sony have done for their customer. For which device sony updated firmware to ICS till date? Could you please tell me?
yaa why do eople bother. Install ics rom. No one bothers with touchwiz anyway it is lame.

AnonD-4100, 29 Mar 2012Why they don't use Vanilla ICS it would be much easyer then this. It has the same specificatio... moreMany ICS roms are out there , can be used without a niche on SGS. However, along with the code custom rom devs put lot of effort to prepare/align the device specific kernel and the associated libraries.
Samsung cannot / shall not release the vanilla, the whole purpose of their business is contradicted if they do. All the proprietary apps, kernels and drivers(most important aspect) have to be integrated with the vanilla flavor. This whole package adds to the user experience and differentiates one OEM to another. else it would be like WP devices . :)
You cant expect samsung to release the firmware without their "mark" on it. as matter of fact any OEM shall not do that
