2020 xperia -1, 2500mah battery, no jack audio, 29:10 AR, and the price 1500$ 32gb internal, no microsd.
Just die sony.
Unless they make a Compact version, there's no point. No one will be buying.
Sony should release software updates on all Xperia phones and also sort out their phones that overheat. Xperia XA1 Ultra still on Android 8 while other phones are heading for Android 10. Flagship!!!!! what a joke.

xperia's screens are the best in the market. the camera as well. who knows if this one will be as well? not me, but it's likely it'll be good.
sony just fails having a good strategy to tie things together. you can't market these phones at high prices, while having bad marketing (everyone has special relationships with reviewers except sony, didn't they learn that from their alpha division?!), or not having every single feature (like wireless charging, night sight)
the actual hardware quality is damn good, the software is updated fast and lightweight, battery life isnt half bad and the phones aren't crippled during updates to "make you upgrade" (HI SAMSUNG, APPLE)
if i were sony id make a premium phone that's good enough, way cheaper, to regain customer trust, and send these devices to all big reviewers like marques... basically fight the oneplus, not the S11, while being as good-or-better.
But that's never going to happen. Sony mobile division does not learn.

Why are they not done yet with mobile division. They said they will shut it down if it crashes in coming years which it has been consistently.
If not even one of 2020 Sony devices with SD865, doesn't have a 3.5mm jack, I am buying LG or Xiaomi, Huawei...

Not gonna lie,but I'm really really really really hate 2020 smartphone design. Why not just place camera all over the phone instead if they soo greedy about camera.
AnonD-901275, 09 Dec 2019And who are you referring to when saying "we"? Thank god you are not influencer. Everyone that dies not like ruler phone like this year sony phones...
chester, 09 Dec 2019Yes...we don't need phones that's look like a rulerAnd who are you referring to when saying "we"?
Thank god you are not influencer.
Dramatic change in the design shows, that SONY is completely lost.
See what are doing the Apple, Google, Samsung, Huawei etc. - they follow one line and every year they make small changes in the design. SONY stick to omnia design long. then they dramatically jump to old ARC design, producing incredibly thick and ugly phones. Then, with Experia 1,10....(agsain naming is disaster) they bring something between omni design and Samsung Galaxy line. Now they plan again to go to ARC design...?!?
They lost the last winning segemnt - compact.
Their bettery capacity is too small, according most of the competition. The camera is always mediocre quality...
Shame for their management.
How hard is to take the design of XPERIA X Compact, to put decent battery with very good camera and put nice AMOLED screen with small top and bottom bezels with at least medium laud front facing speakers? Even make the back plastic again - it is far more durable then glass. The phone is one handed operation and with big enough screen.
There are many people, that doesn't want to wear phablet or tablet or plate...

- no j... moreDont compare it with Samsung, i never like its image processing. Oversaturate, smudgy & plasticky looking details. But their dynamic range are better than Xperia does (still over the top for me).
RAW images meant to be edited, in order to fix things up to bring what the real scene should've look like. Color science is a matter of taste, some loves the vintage-film colors, some a bit vibrancy (most of smartphone camera does this, including Xperia, but not oversaturate), and some leave it flat. Even in actual camera world, Sony was not known for the best color science, its either Canon or Fuji. You wont get all that on RAW images. Even when Xperia compressed to JPEG from RAW, it does all that.
And that video link, i dont know what u trying to proove, but that is the best explanation why computational photography implement in a smartphone. He compares it with the $7500 actual camera, and the results is surprisingly good. If he compares it with any Xperia right now, u will definitely saw the differents right away without even thinking. As i said, inferior hardware needs a better software.
I love 21:9 on Xperia 1. It's a very nice form factor. The battery also good too.
For the battery, most people have access to the outlet during the day. If you have to be outside all day, bring with you a power pack (10,000 mAh is small and good enough for the day).

Unless change with edition, cameras will keep foreground brighter in expense of background. But never too bright like samsung.
Pay attemption when you watch tv, on how many scenes with overexposed background. Tons of them.
Excess of HDR used by Samsung, Apple and Google make scenes very different than you see in person.
Reality is not enhanced, not saturated and pure black does not exist (like any black thing on photos from pixel, even when seen on LCD looks pure black).

Look at just the colours and sky.
vrvly, 09 Dec 2019Should be like that: xperia 0, xperia 1.1, xperia 3, xperia 5.1...It will be 1.1 or 5.1, 10.1 and so on as far as I know about the naming scheme. I think it is logical this way. The smallest number are the high-end this time, the bigger there are, the lower there are. The Xperia 10 is a low-end(budget)device. The Xperia 5 is between high-end and budget.
Anonymous, 09 Dec 2019Sony does not care about computational photos.
They dont use on Alpha.
They prefer photos ... more'as close as possible as real scene'.
Nope. Very far from it. Their actual camera did (their Alpha even got various of dynamic range stages control, up to unrealistic level, but got its purpose), but not their Xperia. Smaller camera sensor & pixel size are the reason computational photography introduced in a smartphone, in order to compensate as much as actual camera does (better software vs better hardware).
They nail it on detail-wise segment (RAW noise reduction) & eye AF (loose Aperture Mode when using it, which a bummer), but other aspects are left out.
Did it nail dynamic range as the real scene does? Far from it. Overblown highlights all over the place, crush shadows in the dark (especially low lights, a lot darker than actual scene), lil bit overcontrast, not the same level edge detection background defocus. I wont call all that as 'real scene' as my eyes can see. Its a lazy camera image algorithm implementation that just rely on its hardware.
Whis this new Xperia 3 camera module, along with TOF sensor & computational photography enhancement, believe me, people will buy Sony again. If they stick with the same old same old plan again, guess what? Sales worsen each year. I myself jumpship from Sony to another brand, but maybe if they did things right, i'll back to Sony.
notafanboy, 09 Dec 201921:9 on phones is a failSo true, anything above 16:9 is very impractical, and 21:9 is just plain ridiculous. To add insult to injury, they even put a fat notch at the top, which makes the already far too long smartphone even longer. Massive design fail.
