2 strips of double sided tape on a phone with a non-removable battery is all you need. Don't know what Samsung is playing at, making their phones less futureproof.

Just make em disposable...they are mostly anyway. Manufacturers do NOT want you
to repair them. If they completely eliminate repair, they can charge even higher prices.

Its only a few wires, takes 1min (Only caution you need is not to shot wires)

Recently I replaced the battery on my LG G6. To glue the back cover I used rtv silicone gasket maker. Still holding pressure (when press the phone) and hopefully watertight.

Yujikon, 21 Dec 2019Does anyone know what this glue is made of?Currently devices sealed with tape are generally resealed with a glue called B-7000, which is somewhat water resistant and also softens under heat like the tape it replaces. It's also very cheap. There are many variants but UV is not needed.

Nah, the reason are:
- faster to apply, which means faster to assemble and reduce mfg cost by a few cents per 100 units
- harder to repair, which means people will buy more often.

Isn't Weldbond ordinary PVA "white glue" that's melts in tropical climates and takes forever to cure? Maybe you can open the phone for servicing by soaking it warm water for a few minutes.

glue is for paper mache and not consumer electronics

And after 2-3 months - buy a new one, again $1500 !
