I have a feeling that Google services ban will be a good thing for Huawei in the long term view. They surely have the power of developing and spreading their own ecosystem. Now they also have some additional motivation to do this. Also do not underestimate the amount of people who would buy new Google'less Huawei devices. It's not that hard to adopt and if Huawei makes the OS and it's services as good as they have been making their phones, then people will be joining in masses.

Huawei is doing great. But what will happen in future? Developing their own services isn't enough. Their should make their own operating system.

They usually happily ride on the existing ecosystems/infrastructure/platforms playing as OEMs or manufacturers, component suppliers! But Trump & USA sanction has made them to realise their true potential, since US is truly scarred of China, especially their ability in Chip design (&manufacturing in large scale), software,AI,ML, advanced networking tech etc....

But Chinese are doing half-hearted attempts by trying to make everyone not offended! But this would only work if China is ready to play as per tunes of West. If China & Huawei really want to make a difference, they need to embrace ecosystem competition! Indian Software developers can give them necessary thrust in Asian markets but they somehow need to get green signal from Banks, FinTech institutions and other popular apps.

Google services actually means a lot for people outside of China. Huawei will never be successful outside of China if they will not get back to google services. Unfortunately..

It is disingenuous for authors to write-up articles that states, the US ban has not affected Huawei's products/businesses (w/out mentioning over 6-months of reprieves, circumventing the US ban from US suppliers), but leaving out deliberately major decisive factors such as, early release products (P30 / P20 series and older models) were unaffected by the embargo before the ban went active May 2019.

Mate 30 series - DOA internationally

                    Mate X - DOA internationally

The embargo is not affecting Huawei? Nonsense.

The embargo was not design to affect Huawei the first-half of 2019. e.g. the months of reprieves.

If nothing changes with the sanctions against Huawei in the first-half of 2020, at that time only, would it show how well Huawei is doing under the US sanctions.

Even if they make better apps than Google I dont think they will do much better outside of China cause people are reluctant to change and moving from GMS ehich is global to HMS which is only in Huawei and Honor phones will be difficult and than moving back to GMS if you switch brands so outside China it might still be useless

I will buy a Huawei phone in a few days although I own 2 iPhone previously. I have looked at different phones including iPhone, Samsung, Vivo and Oppo but only Huawei truly stands out. Their cameras are amazing. The design and the colour of the phone are so beautiful. iPhone is the worst one. The cameras on the new iPhone look so weird, more like carbuncles. Vivo also has a weird design. Oppo doesn’t have good cameras. Samsung lacks innovative designs. I wonder what happened to Apple after Steve Jobs is gone. Regarding google app, that doesn’t mean anything for the majority of people in the world. Only fake news from Western media have repeated over and over and make customers sick and tire of the lies.

Glad there is something different. Perfect. A Google less phone. I welcome that. And I am interested. Very. I like alternatives.

Huawei Services have no future...look at something so simple as a memory card, nobody is using Huawei nano memory card ! The other brands have too much to lose to switch.

I am very hesitant to trust Huawei with any of my personal information or data.

Lots of people like to hate on Google for gathering a little personal information on us to show is better advertisements, but Huawei is definitely going to be less secure and our personal information is going to leak more using Huawei's services.

I'm sticking with Google for sure.

Had to admit, since the ban over Huawei devices and the lack of support from Google, I never looked at Huawei phones.
Even when I was looking for a new phone couple of months ago I skipped Huawei and Honor devices.

The idea of a new OS looks good on paper, but how to implement that in the current market and most important who will make that software. Because, if the rumours are correct and the software wil be done in India and China, well as an European guy, I am choosing Google or IOS easily.

Could backfire somewhat on Trump. If Huawei are able to get India and China to adopt their OS, then Android, at least the Google flavour could lose significant devices. Though getting Western Europe and America would be a mighty challenge. Their alternative would need all the top 30 apps. Just ask MS. No Snapchat etc was something they could not overcome. And that is in spite of having a very admirable OS, and a lot of the major apps.
