Pixel 1 uses SD821 which no other company has used it before at a time. I believed that since Google owned Android, they have the highest privilege to use the latest and the greatest parts at a time. Now, that fantasy is broken.

I thought the point of the a series was that the same camera software and hardware would be available at the lower price.

I'm glad the jack is in this but I hope that singular camera is a Quad Bayer one like IMX586. It's time for Google to add more codes for their camera software algorithms to work well with multi pixel binning (Quad Bayer & Nona Bayer for example).
