But the main problem is the price. And regional (un)availability. Samsung just gives me all of it for the less money. Not to mention Xiaomi etc

Xperia 1 just needed these upgrades to be the perfect smartphone for just about everyone.
I mean, what's to hate about this phone? The display is clear of any obtrusive cutouts, and that alone makes it a winner for me already.

They fixed it for XZ2.
Also it does better when phone is vertical (it is stupid to do bokeh in ladscape mode).
I have a photo of a clown toy that is extremely good for 8MP.
Bokeh is waste of time. All phones have same issues. No matter the Focal Length and ToF.

Taking that approach will steer away from others, but people with photography skills will be pleased with it.
Surprise it has the 5x periscope camera. Well it will be good for sports watching from stadium. But I prefer the 3x (85mm) more. Perfect for street photography.

When people say computational, usually the... moreI own Xperia Z series up to Z5. No, the 'background defocus' are just bad implementation of fake bokeh just by several pictures taken. Even on the Xperia 1 & 5 Sony are lagging behind others for using those background defocus.
So yes, with the help of ToF, its one of the 'computational photography' meaning.

When people say computational, usually they are talking about fake looking HDR photos.
That is why I said that.
I suspect the 64MP is 2x or 3x zoom.
But also could be the wide, while 12 as monochrome.
Nobody knows for sure.

No, dont overdone it as Samsung did, but play with it a bit in order to compensate actual camera as smartphone camera hardware are limited.
