Matt99, 15 Jan 2020Hmmm? my microwave uses mm technology to cook food. Well, looks like your microwave has 5G coverage, lol.
By reading this article i assume the first apple 5G phone will be like having no 5G it will be far more costly but completely useless because the service will most of the time not work at all.
Anonymous, 15 Jan 2020While we are using 5g, Let's fry some DNA as well. Worry more about the big burning ball in the sky. With the depleted Ozone layer.. Your DNA is already ruined.

If you check coverage maps of 5G carriers, it's basically only some streets that are covered. So if you're waiting for a bus at the wrong corner, or inside a building...
Of course you can revert to sub-6GHz or LTE/4G. But I wonder what is the effect on battery life if tour device keeps switching from mmWave to sub-6GHz. It's probably fine in integrated modems. Hopefully...

With the size of the current phones and placed correctly it should not happen where you have coverage.
Although of course, if the design is not good, at Apple, that will never be a problem because the fault will always be on the one who does not hold the phone well. ; )

Which is why I keep saying mmWave is only hype and not useful, unless in open and heavily crowded areas
You can easily imagine the release presentation:
"Here we have the true 5G, the new and unique i5G. Nothing can beat it."
Disclaimer: If you do not have i5G coverage inside a building. Remember to go near the window and open it if necessary and above all, "do not forget to hold your mobile phone properly without covering the antennas". You could be doing it wrong ;D
Pass... Sorry. Android all the way! Especially for 5G.
Apple make the ARM macbookpro as soon as yesterday, its almost difficult to breath.
