By reading this article i assume the first apple 5G phone will be like having no 5G it will be far more costly but completely useless because the service will most of the time not work at all.

If you check coverage maps of 5G carriers, it's basically only some streets that are covered. So if you're waiting for a bus at the wrong corner, or inside a building...
Of course you can revert to sub-6GHz or LTE/4G. But I wonder what is the effect on battery life if tour device keeps switching from mmWave to sub-6GHz. It's probably fine in integrated modems. Hopefully...

With the size of the current phones and placed correctly it should not happen where you have coverage.
Although of course, if the design is not good, at Apple, that will never be a problem because the fault will always be on the one who does not hold the phone well. ; )

Disclaimer: If you do not have i5G coverage inside a building. Remember to go near the window and open it if necessary and above all, "do not forget to hold your mobile phone properly without covering the antennas". You could be doing it wrong ;D
