The safest but not the easiest way for the users is number 2.

i am for this option 2 but modify it such that not just facebook users can log in but also those with google and yahoo account. That should cover a substantial and representative cross section of gsmarena readers.

Hi GSMArena, I've a good suggestion for this problem:-

First of all allow voting for registered (logged-in) users only. One user should be able to vote for 1 mobile only once, but he/she should be able to change it later.

Secondly, restore the Database to a point where it was most stable, doing so will keep the old stats in-place. And try to analyse it and remove fraudulent entries if there are any.

Thirdly, a user can vote 1-1-1 or 10-10-10. Please don't try to control or filter it.

I believe that the second option of modifing the vote system is quite good. It is clear that the charts are very wrong and you can't have a clear image of a good phone or a bad one, and that's a pitty. So, the ideea of changing the vote system is a good one.
P.S. it really does not matter how the system changes for the true and real voters, they will still vote pbjectively. Good luck!

Option 2 - everyone can vote only once. This is the best option.

I think you should just get rid of the voting system all together because it will be abused and misused no matter what you do. Instead, you should provide your own rankings for phones so that there's more of a qualitative assessment of the characteristics of any specific phone.

Just put a CAPTCHA for each new vote, this will stop automated votes from happening again. People have the right to downvote a phone as much as upvote their favorites.

why don't you rate every phone yourself and show only that rating.... and if the users want to check other user's opinions on that phone, they read the comments..
