The only solution to this is either you guyz use you 3rd method of making a new voting method or you guyz yourself give votes to phones according to your review
I suggest the same as suggested by one here. You are the better jude to decide upon certain capabilities of a phone. So you create a bench mark scale for each phone based on that. e.g phones like blackberry can be given a scale of max 1- 8 whereas sony xperia series, galaxy s2, iphone 4s etc can be given more weightage of 1- 10and so on and so forth. This scaling system can be altered as and when new technology comes in and it also can be categorized into segments like day to day usage, advance powers and hardcore ultimat6e business
ok being completely honest, what u guys said is 100percent correct and infact quite irritating. me as a user find it hard to check out a good phone becoz all the ratings are high for every phone.
the best solution will be number 3. along with that add another column saying gsmarena's ratings out of 10. a member from gsmarena should just vote for a phone looking at the specs etc etc. that way people can see a clear cut difference in the ratings by a fanboy and a true expert. that would make it a whole lot easier to understand the true potential of the phone. because u guys rate the phone for what it is.. and nothing else. i guess if this option is included(not for all phones but for the major brands atleast in the beggining and then expand it) even if the phone is not reviewed a basic idea is provided to the user about what to expect from the phone. otherwise it is difficult as the phones are extremely rated by the fanboys and i have no idea if it is really that good! so option 3 with this additional option, that is gsmarena's expert ratings will really give a good picture as what the phone really is
Dear voting should be dynamic in nature that means phones having unique specs have to vote dynamically which will show its specialness about the phone.for example
people who have an experience with that particular phone he can easily mention that point easily...do questionnaire..............
#3 is ok for me. Considering how bad the problem is.I still don't understand why some people want their phone to be popular. Useless attitude.
One vote per mobile model per user(if more voted change the value of previous vote ,in this case no of total votes must be unchanged)
I think you guys should add your own ratings based on your reviews and leave the current user ratings as they are. This will allow people to see both ratings, the GSM Arena one and the Users.
I think that the best soulition for this issue is accepting the vote only with a correct IMEI
so anyone wants to vote should put in his phone imei... And ofcourse every single imei have the right to vote only one time
i never really care about GSMArena's rating / voting system before, since i know it was easily manipulate by those fanboys.
if i'd want to know which phone is the popular one,
i prefer looking at the "DAILY INTEREST" section.
but i agree, we must prevent those fanboys for ruining the sites.
i choose OPTION NUMBER 3,
or maybe Option Number 2.
I feel that GSM Arena is the expert. You are the ones who test all phones and are able to judge each phone against its competitors. You test them all under nearly identical conditions and therefore you alone should be the final arbiter of allocating votes. Then there can be no fanboy bias involved.
Option 3 sounds like the best bet you've got against th fanboy scourge. It would reset your stat system, but frankly, its time for a revamp and the older gen phones need to step down, mayb you could create a separate classics fave chart to address that. I don't agree with the IMEI number submission proposal, its a consumer blog, not a developer/technical blog.
In consideration that almost all users are not objective voting, they always try to raise the score of their phones or the phones they like and lower the scores of the phones they don't like or the competitors to their phones. My suggestion is for you guys to put the score of the phones or find info about scores in other trusted and serious websites and put the phones in different categories:
a blackberry cannot be in the same category with the iphone or the samsung S II
examples of categories:
- blackberry or similar phones
- touch from 3 to 4 inches
- single, dual or quad core phones
- type of screen: amoled, led, etc
Hope this help
Go for option 3.
1.Cause there are many users on GSMarena, and votes will be there.
2.Introduce a function to say "whats your phone?",and whenever the user tries to rate his/her own phone high, they will not be able to vote.(it has vulnerability, but better than this)
3.NOT COME WITH ANYTHING,IF I HAVE ANY IDEA WILL LET YOU KNOW ;)
