I don't see why Apple needs to pay when it's Broadcom who broke the rules.
I only wonder why they did not sue them more.
They really should milk a lot more money from apple.
And i bet Apple wont pay even the law force them to.
Thy are greedy veerywhere.
Basicaly having no Research and Developement only stealing from smaller players and acting cool like nothing big happened.

And that people, is the "innovation king" for you.
Apple should actually write a book titled "How to claim that R&D crown, by stealing crown-jewels from small players, in 10 easy steps."
Baykko, 30 Jan 2020Can someone tell exactly what it is about? It's about Apple stealing technologies from small players. Too bad they got caught.
Baykko, 30 Jan 2020Can someone tell exactly what it is about? From what I gather, Broadcom/apple violated patents 7421032,7116710,7916781 ( Serial concatenation of interleaved convolutional codes forming turbo-like codes ) and havent paid royalties to Caltech from 2010
This should be fully Broadcom's problem. Imagine you're a parts reseller and the manufacturer of your parts were sued due to patent infringement, would you give a percentage of your income just because the manufacturer f u c k e d up?
Baykko, 30 Jan 2020Can someone tell exactly what it is about? It's error correction algorithm.
This should be FRAND as it part of the WiFi standard.
Baykko, 30 Jan 2020Can someone tell exactly what it is about? bascially- the continueum transfunctioner has reached is max compacity and caltech aint happy so they are asking money from apple to make them happy- and now they go their money- soo all is happy
hope this helps

call itself... more"In a case filed in federal court in Los Angeles in 2016, the Pasadena, California-based research university alleged that Broadcom wi-fi chips used in hundreds of millions of Apple iPhones infringed patents relating to data transmission technology." - source article
Yeah, I didn't follow this lawsuit, but if this is an accurate summary, blaming Apple is misguided. As is assigning them the bulk of the fines.
shameless apple. Won't innovate anything and will infringe on everyone's Patents.
call itself most valuable company but spends penny on R&D. SHAMELESS
