Plz stop living in 2012.
Silly poll ... if people have the choice they will always will go for the best.
GAMIRSFM, 02 Feb 2020120hz makes the user experience better, you see why people say the Oneplus or the iphone feel ... more200 plus games already support high refresh rate. Here's a list:
https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/9967/rog-phone-ii-list-of-games-supporting-above-60fps-gameplay
So 120hz is already mainstream.
GAMIRSFM, 02 Feb 2020120hz makes the user experience better, you see why people say the Oneplus or the iphone feel ... moreiPhone's have 60Hz displays. OnePlus' 'feel' smooth because they lack animations. iPhone's 'feel' smooth because they have smooth animations. Samsung's don't feel smooth because the animations are laggy. A high refresh rate won't save that either. It will only eat up battery and that is NOT a good user experience!

Lol look at Gsmarena endurance rating of ROG 2, the best 120hz display on the market currently. 114Hr@120hz & 132hr@60hz.
That's around less than 15% battery drain. Combine that with 2020 fast charging standards, you don't even notice battery drain.
Everything is better on 120hz display. You have to actually use it as a daily driver to know the difference. I couldn't go back to my S10 after using the ROG 2.
Infact no one goes back to 60hz after using 120hz display especially in mobile segment.
On PC without touchscreen, you won't notice much difference unless gaming.
Shadocx, 02 Feb 2020Wait, isn't 256 GB or 1 TB of storage going to consume the same power? And 5G too if the mode... moreExactly, almost all people always want more, and seldom use the high specs they eagerly seek, of course 120hz will eat more battery than 60hz

ASUS ROG Phone 3, 02 Feb 2020Almost twice refresh rate, at 120 Hz is it possible that display lifetime gets reduced substan... moreI think that turning a pixel on and off 120 times a second will reduce the lifespan, especially with OLED, since they turn off when displaying black and have to turn on again. If they use PWM, it will suffer from black smearing on low brightness, and if they use DC dimming, it will show burn-in in a year or two I would imagine.

And i think Asphalt 9 supports 120hz im not sure.
But if these 120hz is mainstream more games will be supporting it, just when 18:9 was on the S8.
sohail shafayat, 02 Feb 2020Yet I'll have to pay some extra for the feature even though I don't need it at all There's no price increase for that feature. IPS and OLED are already capable of higher refresh rates. It's up to them to program that way. Look at Sony's old phones. They're capable of at least 120hz but they're hardware/software locked to 60hz. My Tencent Asus RoG Phone II costs around $600 and it has 120hz.
Shanti Dope, 02 Feb 2020Switch the screen back to 60Hz if you don't need it. OEMs will have to provide the option to do it.Yet I'll have to pay some extra for the feature even though I don't need it at all

Then don... moreWait, isn't 256 GB or 1 TB of storage going to consume the same power?
And 5G too if the modem is integrated?
I think 120 Hz will consume a lot more than 60 Hz.
Tell Samsung to prepare their 8k mAh batteries.
We're not talking about a PC here, why the heck would we need 120 Hz on a smartphone, just to waste battery life?
Smoother UI and scrolling, just to make phone calls, browse the internet, use social media apps and play a few games that are most likely capped to 60 or 30 FPS?
Almost twice refresh rate, at 120 Hz is it possible that display lifetime gets reduced substantially, with more dead pixels, burnin possibilities in AMOLED screens? We have to really see this in action for sometime before judging one way or the other! Battery tech must augment the power needs for high refresh rates!
AND NAND, 02 Feb 2020You don't have even basic understanding.. There might be a option to set lower refresh rates.. There might be...! What if NOT? Yet I'll need to pay some extra dollar for the feature though I don't need it. I understand better than you

Also, the iPhone really started/kicked off a new product, the smartphone. Before, they were just feature phones or PDAs. So it's the wrong comparison, friend.
Plus it doesn't make sense that "cheaper" phones are more functional than expensive ones. And it doesn't make sense that you say it makes sense.
And you failed to mention any "latest and greatest" technology that warrants the removal of essential features. Not basic, not legacy, essential features. But hey, want to blindly follow lame trends and waste tons of cash while completely ignoring logic? Be my guest. Just don't flame people who still think rationally.
Sharp Aquos Zero II = 240Hz 1080p oled + 3130 mAh
Phones with poor optimization system need more than 4000mAh to keep lower 90Hz screen.
AnonD-558092, 02 Feb 2020Wow. You don't know a thing about this person and you went all over it.
Being a blind techn... moreThen don't buy their products, if people woudn't have brought the 1st iPhone, maybe we would be still with phones that has real keyboards and some basic touch screen funtionality.
But people did and so it started the smartphones we know today, maybe it got really expensive but that's where you can get an cheaper phone that can still do your basic funtions, just that it won't have the latest and greatest tech.
So you don't need all the new stuff, you can always buy the low end stuff, while the majority can go and buy the latest tech. And that is how the tecnology will keep improving.
High refresh rate screen is gonna be the norms, once u go high refriesh rate, there is no going back...

AnonD-120291, 02 Feb 2020back up your claim that phone companies sold more phones because they removed the 3.5mm jack I'm not saying it's because they removed, i'm saying it's because people found excuses to buy these phones anyway.
