S8 9.0, 06 Feb 2020Should be 108 mp since knowing find series are most premium devices from oppowhy should it be? the 108MP ain't gonna the best sensor out there for long. this IMX689 is gonna be at least of the same level or more

S8 9.0, 06 Feb 2020Should be 108 mp since knowing find series are most premium devices from oppoDisclaimer, I am not a picture or camera expert and I may endup saying totally inaccurate things...
But, well, knowing that Reflex Camera don't have much more than 25MP at most for premium and expensive model, that beg the question of why smartphone need that much resolution mainly considering that Smartphones don't output much more than 20MP pictures at the end, also, for example my OnePlus 6T can take 3456*4608 pictures, which is 15 925 248 pixels, almost 16MP and that's more than enough.
Obviously they use totally different ways, Reflexs count on the raw quality of their sensors while Smartphones count on both sensors and post treatment capabilities.
The thing is, a 40MP camera on Smartphone can actually already equal low end Reflex Cameras on quality, of course peoples really want that regular/high end quality.
And using a high pixel count to get the maximum amount of details against luminosity (that will be enhanced through post processing) is the way to go, except that with this new sensor, they rather improved focus quality and speed which haven't been changed in a while, but the sensor will also allow for better low light gathering, meaning better night pictures, but also, more light gathering also mean more detail per pixels, meaning less need for higher pixels count to gather details that will be processed into a single image of lower resolution, it probably also mean faster processing and less defects on the image.
So actually even if its main sensor might ultimately have less than half the resolution of that Samsung monster, it might still output better image quality at the end.
Because the number of pixels alone aren't everything, the quality per pixel is even more important.

The first one was so pretty yet so fragile. Literal glass cannon.
