This was my first smartphone ðŸ˜
Bought it for a fraction of price @ Rs. 15k (250 Dollars) Released at a hefty price of 700 Dollars, just after 6 to 7 months the price has been downgraded.
I can surely say this was the best OS I have ever used.
Hub, BBM are really future proof.
I Still remember using android apks in this mobile.
I think no other brand provided 18 months of warranty other than BB at those times.
Gestures are really very useful
BlackBerry 10 was ahead of time. Best OS ever used. Missing BlackBerry Blend and Hub so much. Poor marketing killed the legacy.
Blackberry phones and BBOS are still my preferred,if available. They were really class apart. I sold off my last blackberry device 6 months back.even today I use BB hub and BB launcher on my Android One device.
Unfortunately it was rigidity in changing with times and price tag ( specially in price conscious market like India) that lead to downfall. They should have learnt from Nokia.
Higher price tag ( insane amount vis a vis product offered) has led Downfall of HTC in mobile market. On other hand using lower price tag One plus has become one of the prime players in a short time.
Lower price tag I mean - sane prices for the product.
Blackberry, like nokia before them simply refused change when the markets were changing towards apple and android, they refused to adapt until it was to late, i understand that they wanted to keep their own OS, but what they should have done was to ALSO introduce android models as well, both companies failed in this area and both companies crumbled because of it, and no doubt other factors
I still have a Z10 that got bricked by their own OS update lol. At that point I had this ominous feeling that if they couldn't even push a proper software update then this company is done for good.
With mid range specifications and new OS, the launch price of BB Z10 and BB Q10 was $700 and $750 respectively. As per RIM standards, Insane price as usual. Back then, I had BB PlayBook and was looking forward to buy BB Q10 for their physical qwerty keypad. But after seeing their prices I changed my mind. Except some early adopters, nobody was ready to purchase this handset. Within 6 months they reduced the price of Z10 to $500 and after 12 months to $300. At this point, users bought the handset.
That's what happens when you cut too many corners while charging too much. Especially like battery, resolution, and processor.
Regardless of what fans try to claim.
That and not marketing well or making carrier availability.
Seriously. Who runs these companies? Sony going through similar crap.
I had the Q10, Passport, and the leap. Those phones where a head of their time. It is still a pity that RIM did not have the play store but the Amazon app store. If Blackberry 10 had the play store I think I would still be using the Passport today.
Mr. Machuman, 09 Feb 2020Tbh I want to get rid of this android-ios duopolism...though both of them are matured enough b... moreBlackberry downfall was it concentrated on keyboard phones, and not until 2013 with the Z10 and Q10 did they launch a phone which had a secondary selfie /video call camera, note this is 7 seven years after Nokia with the 6680, all Nokia Symbian smartphones all came with secondary camera
Just to digress per Gsmarena Blackberry and TV part later this year, so unless another company is licenced to make Android Blackberry, no more Blackberry
It should be noted that Blackberry are market leaders in driverless cars
QNX (aka Blackberry 10 OS is viable alive and kicking albeit only on cars
If Blackberry plan to license another company to produce Blackberry 10 OS phones this could go to explain why the TCL arrangement ended
Like Google Blackberry could in theory have third party phone makers use BB10 OS, which unlike Android does not need security patches
The immediate beneficiary could be Huawei, as being Canadian escapes Trumps USA extortion practices.
Third party app developer follow phone sales, Blackberry app market is not being added to atm
Was and still the bestOS ever made on a smartphone, i have to buy BlackBerry Company to make BBOS10 phones again

ThunderCrackR, 09 Feb 2020Difficult gestures? Blackberry, Nokia N9 and Palm are the ones who invented all these gesture ... moreIt's quite simple. At the time, with everybody else, if the user didn't understand something, the manufacturer was wrong. With Apple, if the user didn't understand it, the user was wrong. (Hence "you're holding it wrong".)
Apple users could be shamed into learning new things. BlackBerry users mostly didn't want to have to learn anything.
But, for its period, the Q10 was the best phone I had ever had and I ran my small business on it for years. Then I had to go Android for online banking.
I think that BB10 at the time had a lot of potential because way a superb OS,but the lack of apps push BB to choose android.Also.I think we must wait at least 6 month to know more, what is going to happen of the hardware division of Blackberry, which maybe they going to license another firm or make it in house by itself, and after maybe we will see other phones by them.I'm a proud user of the Keyone since June 2017,and it still works great. So time will tell us about the future of the phone.Thank you.
