oPaGanDasTyle, 11 Feb 2020Meh, just use 12MP mode...and you will see big difference. thats the problem...think 48MP will... moreMan or woman, I know how to use and make photos. I test and write reviews of cameras myself. I don't say that 12MP photos are shitty and not usable, but they are not the best and Gcam doesn't make them way better.
I like to shoot landscapes, buildings while traveling, so for this 48MP are best choice, for daily use sure I switch to 12MP - i's faster and not taking so much space, but for a daily driver camera I better choose Huawei P or Samsung S series.

If it has a High Res audio DAC and a headphone jack, I'm sold! Was planning on waiting for LG V60 but looks like the Mi 10 will be a good audio phone as well.

Images are extremely sharp and detailed when zoomed. This is also the case with the cheaper Mi Note 10 Pro. However, I cannot really confirm whether Xiaomi has fixed the artificial blur yet. I also hope Xiaomi fixes its night mode too.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2020Although the more megapixels the better, I don't see how pushing 108mpx in such a small sensor... moreYour focus is wrong. The MP count isn't the vital part of this sensor, but it's total size and the size of each pixel.

Implemented in the Xiaomi Note 10 Pro, this sensor offers binned photos at 27MP, the pixel size of the camera sensor is 1.6 microns, which is bigger than then 1.4 micron pixels in all the mainstream 12MP sensors in everything from Pixel to iphone. So Each pixel making up that 27MP photo has the potential for more light and better image quality than that of a typical 12MP miniature sensor, and at a three times higher resolution.

Another resolutions this sensor supports is 12MP, and then offering pixels at a 2.4 microns size. Giving it a 108MP resolution, makes it a versatile sensor. That said, a similar sized sensor, with a native resolution of 48MP than binnes to 12MP could be more versatile as far as video performance goes and 8K recording, but the necessity and usefulness of 8K recording is quite limited for most people.

djst, 11 Feb 2020Not true, I have Mi9 with Gcam and not all photos looking good. Day time I use just 48MP mode,... moreMeh, just use 12MP mode...and you will see big difference. thats the problem...think 48MP will do better than 12MP is what blind people think cause of the MP count, thats nothing boy.

Use only 12MP in all situations and you see, better photos and videos than a iPhone! im not joking, 48MP is gimmicky tho.

It's about time another manufacturer implements HEIC considering a 27MP image reaches at a whopping 10 MB. 100 pictures taken at 27MP would take up a gigabyte. 50% smaller size should give the storage some "air".

Although I don't have to tell you but still apple outside USA is...... meh.

Android will remain to be a disposable phone, because it is. No company will ever bother focusing on a feature for the long term. Heck even Google doesn’t care. This is why the big seller of Android are the low end phones, like the Galaxy A10.

oPaGanDasTyle, 11 Feb 2020imagine when you put GCam on it, it will look awesome! The same happens with Mi9, stock cam... moreNot true, I have Mi9 with Gcam and not all photos looking good. Day time I use just 48MP mode, way better than Gcam do, but at night Gcam shines. So no - nor Xiaomi, nor Gcam apk is doing the best. Still there is a lot of space for improvements.

Although the more megapixels the better, I don't see how pushing 108mpx in such a small sensor brings any benefits to the photos.

If you zoom in at 100%, you have the huge resolution but there's no detail. It's basically like taking a 12mpx photo, enlarging it to 100mpx and supersampling it / adding an anti-aliasing filter. You have the resolution, but the detail stays the same.

Small sensors can only resolve so much detail, and adding more pixels doesn't bring any real benefits to the table, except less ISO noise. It reduces the noise, but leaves the image as it is: lacking in detail.

You can even add 1,000mpx to such a small sensor and you won't get any improvements in image quality/sharpness/details.
