NotAnOpinion, 11 Feb 2020I mean, why not, right? The UK has already welcomed Huawei's 5G infrastructure with open-arms,... moreAh yes, the phone consumers of the UK were responsible for the decision to use Huawei in 5G infrastructure.

At that price, it's better to get the latest Samsung S20 series.
However, at around ~$450 then maybe I will forego the GMS crap.

I have a Mate 30 Pro 5G in Spain and this is the best Android phone in the market at the present day. It has the best hardware, and a photo and video camera with an amazing Leica optics. And in addition, I was able to install ALL Google services without any problem and in 3 minutes using a Spanish tutorial on YouTube by Eloy Gómez. I receive all the updates from the Play Store, Huawei App Gallery and Android (EMUI 10). I'm using WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Maps, Gmail, etc. without any issue.

In where I live, when you buy Mate 30 Pro from the retailer, you will be notified that the device will not come with pre-installed GMS by a shop assistant, which means you will always know the risk of getting this phone before making the purchase decision.

i live in China and know this phone pretty well. Trust me: ITS BAD BAD PHONE !!! It has no volume buttons and you will hate it. Screen is curved so much it catches reflections from all around, watching videos is a nightmare. Camera is so-so. Really dont buy it and thank me later :)

Huawei is a rogue brand which answers to a dictatorship. If you don't see a problem with that, you have bigger issues than just being cheap.

What are Google services ? The Gmail account I was forced to create to download apps? Maps ? That is now replaced with TomTom? Do Apple users need Maps ? Youtube, that you can access on a navigator or can still install ? Because let's not forget the Android Open Source that is used by all low cost phones.. so basically pointless article but useful to the masses that don't know even how to close all these apps they open all the time...

This is rather ballsy. To be fair Huawei have had a very good time over here with the Mate 20 and P20/P30 series but without Google services I doubt this will get the same reception with regards to sales, no wonder they're giving the watch away with it.

Great handset though it is, I don't think that will be enough to coax people into finding alternatives for what are these days basic applications and services. Pity, really.
