NBMSCH, 12 Feb 2020this is not the selling point, it's a rather big gimmick! not all of us have 8K TV's monitors... moreNot all of us but there surely also a lot of us do own one. The purpose it to share and upload online for people who have 8k tv or monitor to watch it. YouTube exist if you haven't notice. I appreciate all the 4k content available there. 8k content would be a great addition.
Wait, the Galaxy S10 (and now S20) can only do 10 minutes of 4K video? Why didn’t any reviewers back then even mention this? Because nobody actually uses it to record videos, I guess?
1080p 60fps video recording with very good stabilization and Very High dynamic range is all I want!
i did record with note9 1 minute the size 4k was about 521 MB how its possible with 8k recording 600 MB anyone explain
AnonD-771260, 12 Feb 2020Did you forget Apple?I did write APEX flagship, didn't I? Apple haven't released one of those since maybe the first iPhone in two-thousand-and-long-ago.

I'm pretty sure in 3-4 years a lot of people will have 8k TV's at home but not so many will have this phone then. To put high price Samsung needs to put neccessary and unnecessary features in phone to sell it. It is not an iPhone.
"S20 phones come with only 128GB storage", too much is never enough?

8K is not mainstream yet... but that will change in a few years at most.
Besides, 8K is optional. You're not forced to use it. Let it be an option for those who want to use it for whatever reason.

You should be able to use third-party apps to bypass these restrictions. Back in 2012-2013 i used such apps to improve the quality of one of my phone's video. I had bought this unknown chinese phone & it recorded videos with the archaic .3gp container in low bitrates. I used a pro camera app from the playstore (i don't remember it's name) to record in higher bitrates & in mp4 container.
If Samsung wants, they could even put these options in the settings on their own camera app.
this is not the selling point, it's a rather big gimmick! not all of us have 8K TV's monitors or computers that supports such high resolution!
would've been better if they added 120fps in 4K HDR recording instead of this gimmicky feature!
Anonymous, 12 Feb 2020No it is not.
Smartphones record much lower quality than cameras not just because smaller ... moreNothing that a third party app can't solve.
Recording at higher bitrate is not really a problem.
Forget 8k, I am more excited for 4k@120fps.

I'm not much into video recording, at least not tinkering enough, to know all this.
im satisfy with 4k resu i dont need 8k lets go to the reality
Shadocx, 12 Feb 2020Why record in 8k on a phone that has a 1440p display, even 4k is too much unless you have one ... moreA well made point. Most people don't have the patience to do all this hussle. Transferring videos to computer/TV and then watching it. Everyone wants everything right now, now, and NOW.
