Besides Samsung S series usually ships with the fastest chipset of next generation (Snapdragon /Exynos)

1) SD865 doesn't even come with an integrated 5G modem, the thermal efficiency simply can't compete with the 5G solutions offered by Kirin990, Kirin1020, or any of Dimensity chips.
2) SD865 is not sufficiently optimized for LPDDR5, which is way more expensive than LPDDR4. The performance gain from paying such a high premium is negligible. You get more performance gain by switching from UTF3.0 to UTF3.1.
3) The x55 modem doesn't support dual-5G-SIM, while Dimencity chips do and Kirin1020 will certainly do.
4) SD865 doesn't natively support AV1 codec while Dimencity chips do. The Internet based media is rapidly switching to AV1 codec, and this will seriously impact the thermal efficiency of any SD865 based smartphones in the near-future.

I would be glad to see that, but without new ARM cores, Kirin can't be better than last year SoC.
They can speed up cores and fix some cooling to make it work, but there is no way to get 70% better results with that.

Clearly for the Chinese market.
Pretty sad.
Otherwise top notch device.

Meanwhile amongst Android devices, it's much more competitive. This is why so many Xiaomi and Huawei devices get 'shockingly' good ratings.
