Unfortunately, buyers don't care. At all. If that makes their shiny new new cheaper, the company could be flagellating childs and they would gladly purchase. Note that too often than not, labor conditions aren't much better than that.

Unless you are super broke or are super dumb and dont know shit about mainland China, then that's the only that way you are going to happily buy a Chinese OEM-made phone.
I have nothing against Xiaomi or the BBK companies, but even if they didn't want to cooperate with the CCP, they would probably would be forced to do it. It hasnt happened so far as far as we know, but that doesnt means it might not happen in the future.
As for Huawei and Meizu, they can both go get wrecked any day now. The former one for their shady locked bootloaders practices, and the latter for their lack of any update for their devices.
