If you could show today's smartphones to people in 2005, their jaws would drop to the floor. You see, technology never stops improving. I assure you, within a few years, every single one of your statement will turn out false. You're not the first one who has underestimated the future.

Let's wait and see the future unfold.

Kek, 19 Feb 2020Yeah, now tell me, where have you seen a foldable glass device before? You can't bend glass... moreThere actually is glass. But for some weird reason Samsung stuck plastic protector over it and if you remove it you damage the glass. Which is weird. You can also see in disasembly video that Z Flip actually has glass underneath plastic protector where Galaxy Fold has plastic display with plastic protector on top. They'll eventually make actual full glass display that can be folded/bent. It's gonna be pretty neat then. Imagine bracelets with display wrapping around which is not fragile. Or just phones or tablets that can be folded in half. But we aren't there yet, probably another 5-10 years...

TCL slide out/rolling screen is the only correct form factor for expandable phones. Folding will always have a crease, never have good water and dust resistance and be too fat.

You can't bend glass. And if you have something supposedly made out of glass and it can bend without breaking, then that's not glass, but rather a hybrid composite instead.

Hopefully in a few years, UTG technology will improve enough to be scratch-resistant and become worthy of being installed on flagship phones. Hopefully the hinge mechanisms will also improve enough to allow dust & water resistance. At that point, a lot more people will show interest in foldable phones.

Expectation: Folding Glass on the outside as the protective layer.
Reality: Plastic is still the protective layer but the Folding Glass alongside that layer and P-OLED is what makes it work.

Next time Samsung, make the outside layer glass this time.
