Will the fingerprint sensor work in the United States? That's the big question I have.

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2020So all that "exclusive applications" are not bloatwares huh? You can uninstall them huh? Wowwww :OYou can start by not installing them the first time you start your Xperia - which you probably don't have since you claim they are pre-installed Woooooooo the version of Android 9 for the Xperia 5 is almost stock...

€1200? For their target audience i.e. audio/cinephiles I guess it's a fair price (if you care that much about the spec then you'll typically have the money to buy). But as a consumer device, this is immediately priced out of the hands of those they really want to get it into- the young millennial who is after a high functioning, well crafted, aesthetically pleasing device. I get that spec is making leaps and bounds as technology becomes more advanced, but some of these phone prices are absolutely ridiculous. £1000GBP on a phone? Even OP is expected to come in at c.£800GBP which three years ago was incredulous for a phone. Bring back the '14-17 era, where phones were affordable. Shame, would have bought this in a heartbeat at the right price- oh well

I am pretty sure that premium Samsung, Huawei and Sony phones are all top notch. Competing in the same price range and offering different things to customers. And their cameras are also top notch. They are just better than competitors in one area and worse in another. So I find "what is better" rant pretty useless.

The main problems in Sony's strategy compared to competitors are release dates and advertisement. I hope these new phones will be released approximately in the same time frame with competitors, otherwise it will be problematic to sell your products at the time when competitors cut their prices.

But with what I don't agree is pricing of all A-brands. Paying more than 1100 EUR for even 5G flagship phone is a bit ridiculous.

Honestly the design of Xperia 1 II looks more professional to me instead this sketchy colorful phones from Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi! Sony smartphones has this different feeling when you hold one on your hand. I never expirience anything like that from other manufacturer's. That's my opinion.

This negative stigma of Sony = compact phones should be over. Only a handful of you wanted compacts while the millions across the world want a larger phone. You guys should be extinct. You guys even failed to make more sales for the S10e which is why the 5'8 inch S20e never existed.

Because each microlens covers 4 pixels instead of individual ones, the grouped pixels can be used to detect the phase difference just like split pixels on dual pixel sensor do, therefore allow for faster and more precise AF.. but it does NOT help the sensor capture more light.

Everyone complain's about the price but they ignored that Sony has exclusive application's that can edit videos, photos, croping frames, gama color, calibration adjustments, filters also the new pro photo editor and exclusive Music App.This things cost money you know. Every phone has a license to use this apps. Samsung or Huawei don't have this feature's or (extra's) it meant for Professionals and not only for consumer's phone. Last year model (Xperia 1) was strongly criticized by audiophiles for not having headphone jack and that is why we see a comeback on this latest flagship.

Plus, it's a pentile diamond panel, that is known for its bluriness, 4k is not bad in this regard and give a sharp look to everything. The upscale is really good too. imo, it's more visible than the 90Hz tech on mobile, even when displaying FHD. My only grip with the display of the Xperia 1 is the relatively dim brightness. Especially when watching HDR content in a bright environment, or when shooting photo outdoor. I can't even properly use the manual focus on Cinema App if it's too bright since I can't see what's blurry or not on the screen.
