[deleted post]Based on my experience with the Mi Note 10, Xiaomi is not up to par in terms of software updates. Some people think there was a January security update, but it was in fact the December update, just delayed for some.
I like MIUI better than any other Android skin though, even as it unabashedly copies iOS.
But other than the main camera on the Mi Note 10, the others are very poor in anything but perfectly lit scenes. So those zooms and wide additions are largely useless to me. And Xiaomi's processing for the zooms is terrible.
nepu.bug, 02 Mar 2020I think Xiaomi released this OS update in a rush because of too many complains about the late ... moreIs not about, Xiaomi, it never was, i mean those AndroidOne Xiaomi phones. They have own UI (MIUI) and they push updates and new versions of MIUI regular. Xiaomi Androidone phone.. Is another story, i heard, even Google thinks to turn off androidONE program. I mean, there is no difference at all in updates or design, between for example, this Mi A3, couple of HMD )Nokia) phones, with androidone logo, and f.e Motorola phone that is not in that program. All of them, get security patch, Moto G7 Play, entry level device, got that andeoid 10, before this mi a3.. So, no wonder why Google wants to shotdown this program.
This happened because too many people were asking for update, Xiaomi had to rush it.
I don't see what major difference other than dark mode and gestures(that I don't like, tapping is much faster than touch and hole + edge detection on new back gesture isn't as good as it should be nor apps with side gestures play well with it) this update brings to sub $300 devices that makes people aggressively critical toward companies that haven't rolled out updates yet or launching phones with Android 9.
Yes for $300 you aren't a priority to manufacturers over someone who spent close to 3 times on a flagship.
Till the end of 2019, I was still using a phone with Android Marshmallow (with latest security patches available for it). Upgrading to a phone with Android Pie only brought new gimmicks, functionality remained the same except for bigger display and better battery life.
Even when Android 10 rolls out, I'll let other people with same device run it, review overall performance, stability, camera performance then I'll update.
nepu.bug, 02 Mar 2020I think Xiaomi released this OS update in a rush because of too many complains about the late ... moreWhat reputation ? They are a cheap Chinese brand releasing multiple crap devices monthly.
Had same problem with 9 SE. Got a new unit since Xiaomi offer 2 year warranty.

Xiaomi is a joke: Not only did the Mi Note 10 ship with Android 9 a year and a half after Android 10 became available, but it is still not updated, and it has not received even a security update since December.
nepu.bug, 02 Mar 2020I think Xiaomi released this OS update in a rush because of too many complains about the late ... moreOr they intentionally sent out a faulty update to piss people off and make them buy MIUI devices instead...
The weird thing is.. my uncle updated his Mi A3 to android 10 and yet no issues.. 🤷🏻♀️
That was like on Saturday
Seeing how Nokia also got tons of issues with Android 10 update, I hardly believe this is Xiaomi's fault at all.
This is just Google being its best at coding. Perhaps now, Android One will start dying like all other "pure" projects Google has come up with.
I think Xiaomi released this OS update in a rush because of too many complains about the late update. I didn't expect this from Xiaomi as they are the number one smartphone brand in India. This incident is sure to hurt their reputation not to mention the problems the early adopters faced.
