Plus, there are a lot of countries in the world. The fact that Sony now only operates in very few markets should be a clue. If their sales were great, they wouldn’t have been in dire position today.

I was comparing gaming phone sales to Sony.
You said they'd be lucky to sell more than 5 million.
That's where you need to be educated that, the ROG 2 alone got 2.5 million registrations at launch. The total number of gaming phones sold is much higher than 5 million.
In your fantasy world, Sony mobile division is selling well while gaming phones are struggling to reach their sales number. You need a deep reality check. Like it or not, Gaming phones are here to stay. The amount of ppl buying them is increasing exponentially. Same cannot be said about Sony.
You simply can't come back with anything, coz Sony sales are simply not there.

Only uneducated people fall for numbers. This year Xperia 1 mark two is the best on paper from Sony and better than S20 plus (Not talking about Ultra, even if we consider S20 Ultra, pixel binning used for 108MP cam is similar to Xperia 12Mp cam). Some of the keyfeatures which u dont find in Samsung:

Key fetaures compared to last year Xperia:
- 8GB ram
- Wireless charging
- Headphones jack (Believe me it is of less concern for me) + no audio losses like in BT
- Motionblur reduction (90Hz equivalent)
- 4000mah
- power button as fingerprint scanner
People have no problem with shitty image quality and shitty auto focus along with gimmicky 100x zooms and 108MP with pixelbinning and easily pay for 1500$
But when sony releases something unique and fast performing product comparitvely at 1200$, people complain.
PS: Last year 6GB Xperia and iPhone performed onpar with 12GB ram samsung and OnePlus in speed test. This also proves how crap Samsung and OP ram management is. Anything over 8GB ram is nonsense (even with 3 chrome tabs open). Over 12Gb is stupidity and where Mr.Silly lives

Zig, 09 Mar 2020Lost interest in this when I saw has glass back. Sticking with xz1 c too... Sony always concentrates on basic user needs. They don't bring unnecessary stupid stuff. Smartphones can never replace DSLR cameras, Computer (cough cough samsung & Chinese companies..). You won't understand what I'm talking unless u own a Sony and use these other brands.
All flagships mobiles comes with glass front and back now-a-days. Thanks to Sony to introduce this trend with Z5 (Sexy frosted glass). Glass is costlier and premium compared to plastic or metal back. Flagships are never worth the money smartphones. They include every default secs with unique extra premium features.
Why 21:9??
Now a-days no one is using smartphones just for calling/messaging. Gaming, watching videos/movies, Camera, recording videos.... Sony mobiles are alwys best for entertainment. The produce better colour reproduction compared to others. 21:9 is perfect ratio for watching movies. 16:9 is perfect for TV_shows- Anything in between is nonsense.
Why would sony makes something which is already in market by apple/samdung and 1000+ chinese companies???? It doesn't make any sense. If you want ugly nonsensible phones, buy other brands. Design which is unique has alwys been sony strength. They don't follow trend, they set the trend. Wether it could be Waterproof, sidemount fingerprint sensor, squarish edge design (cough,cough, Samdung NOTE, Apple SE...), Glass back, high rear Megapixels, 4k display ..........
That has been the past and present. Already other companies are following 21:9 by stepping into 20:9. :) Having smartphone like TV_remote is unique (How many people uses Ferrari on roads) unlike having similar phone designs (ugly VW polo)

21:9 with 4k HDR display is perfect for Movies/Games a.k.a entertainment. You're not losing anything. 16:9 is perfect fpor Tv shows. anything in between is nonsense. That's moneygrabbing. You're not getting benefits of either of them.
