So no, definitely NO BUY at those prices and with those features.
Way overpriced for a throwaway phone that lasts a year, is buggy, is lacking features and will not get timely updates or OS upgrades.
Even Samsung has more features and better updates.

So between all those who said that in the first place, all those who didn't fact check and get in the pop up hate wagon, and the fear of camera breaking it gave to potential buyers that weren't afraid before reading those nonsensical comments...
Well that's what happened.
Though the Find X2 is quite different because it was originally planned to host underdisplay camera (which I personally dislike) and since they couldn't make it work well enough for the production models, they simply reverted toward something else, and rather than simply use an upgraded variant or actually the same pop up as the original, they simply use a punch hole which is highly disappointing considering the original Oppo Find X fulldisplay characteristic was THE feature that made Oppo actually popular.

_2, because there is, as someone else pointed out to me, phones that use their own system which are way better than the Pixel's ones such as the Huawei Mate 30 Pro who not only require your eyes to be open, but also can detect if you are looking at your phone or not, meaning that it will not automatically have the same flaw, so another company can make one which is more secure than both iPhone and Mate 30 Pro.
_3, Because even with the open eyes issue, it still a really secure system, it do require that you are sleeping or unconscious, with your phone, and that someone DO want to access your data at this time, not only that but also it require this person to be able to identify what phone you own in the first place, and second it require this person to actually know about this security issue, and most persons in everyday life won't know that, here it look like everyone know a minimum about smartphones, but this is normal considering the website.
_4, because 3D facial recognition will only get better with time, and even today, the iPhone implementation is considered THE most secure unlock method.
_5, because the only place I sleep is at home and the only person who is here is my GF who anyway already know my pattern and I registered her fingerprint on my phone as I have nothing to hide to her, and same for her, and for my friends well, lets say the few I have I trust them enough to show them my pattern too anyway.
_6, because I am using the insecure 2D face unlock and insecure 2D fingerprint reader of my OnePlus 6t anyway, once you try the amazing fluidity and convenience of the face unlock on a regular basis, every other methods seem cumbersome, including the "swipe to unlock" one, and I would really appreciate a more secure way to unlock, this mean I want 3D face recognition and 3D fingerprint reader like the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max which is massively more secure and practical than optical fingerprint readers.
_7, because while awake, if a Smartphone theft was to see and recognize my Smartphone and know it have really secure 3D facial recognition and 3D fingerprint reader, he won't bother just stole it as he won't be able to unlock it except if he wave it at my face, even with the eye issue.
That's why I want it.

I want to understand why were gradually going back towards unoriginality?

How about making normal sized phones again? Samsung is following this garbage trend also. 6.5 max was enough. 5.5-6 is optimum. Not everyone wants to use their phone as television replacement.
